I've tried using GoToMeeting and Lync with my new retina MacBook Pro. However sharing my screen doesn't work, as the end-users only sees a corner of the screen. The massive HD pixel density just doesn't "push" out to the audience like it should. I've tried adjusting resolutions and it doesn't help.

Can Apple make a fix for this or is it on the app developers like WebEx and GoToMeeting to fix their apps?

I am planning on purchasing the new Macbook with Retina Display, however WebEx is a critical part of my software sales job and I was concerned that it would not be compatible with the new retina display. Sounds like I was right based on this conversation!

If any one has heard anything from WebEx iwth regards to this issue... let me know! I won't buy the computer until I know this works.

My workaround for this GoToMeeting issue is to connect an external monitor.  Drag the windows you wanna show with GoToMeeting to the external monitor and then share the screen of the second display and do the meeting.

Don't ya hate it when you have a problem and you go the support communities and all you find are posts saying they have the same problem. I thought that was what the "I have the same problem" link was for. Misery breeds company I guess but it clogs the posts.

So it's really refreshing having contributiors add value by telling us what they found out about the issue

and especially to peterfromsarasota for a work-around.

I tried this by using my iMac as the second monitor and it worked although the attendees/viewers had to deal with a massive screen resolution. So I fiddled around with the 2nd screen's resolution settings during a GTM and managed to get the"Grey Message of Despair" (ie. the rMBP re-started) but eventually found if I set the second display resolution up first, then started the meeting and shared this screen all worked well and the attendees get a reasonable vision.

Of course it won't work stand-alone when on the road but half a loaf is better than none.

Thanks for the workaround peteratsarasota and to others on the post especially Orion the originator

I was able get around this by using SetResX (free but has to be downloaded from some odd site) and am trying the trial of SwitchResX, which works also and seems much nicer, but costs $16 after the trial ends.  With either of those two apps, you can set the resolution to 1440 x 900 standard (vs. HiDPI or retina). I have tested it with WebEx and viewers can see my full presentation/screen just fine.  I posted this in another similar thread but forgot to post it here.  Someone in the other thread suggested this and it was good advice.  WebEx is working on a fix, from what their support team says.

Not to hi-jack, but do these Switch res and the other, help smooth over viewing in MS Office apps? and other non-optimized programs?  Thanks.  Also any known downside or harm to the graphic's system?

Awesome! Was this a recent update, something you needed to install or just now part of the package? So just to confirm, with this update you can now host WebEx meetings from your Retina Display Macbook Pro and without adjusting any screen settings, you are able to share your screen with others and ttey have no problem viewing?

Can you tell us how did you do it? I tried updating the WebEx client and nothing changed.

    thanks

First, I found that the only GTM workaround was as others have found.  Use another display.  In my case, I have to dig out my old MBP for it.  Lousy workaround.

When I called, they told me that in spite of the old July promise, they won't even give an estimated date for a GoToMeeting upgrade to support all of us who bought early.

I'm looking for a compatible alternative to GTM.  I don't like switching, but I don't like having to keep my old MBP for just this either.
