Q: .ibooks book to be downloadable in Russia?

hello

i've made a book in russian language in ibooks author

i've uploaded it to the ibookstore, the book got approved and i got a link to it in itunes store

i want this book to be downloadable for russian users, but there is no russian market available in ibookstore!

so this book is not searchable and downloadable for russian users (both using appstore on ipad and itunes on computer)

if i open the itunes page in safari on my ipad, safari redirects me to appstore application which says that i should change the store, because the book is not available in my region (russia)

so what should i set to get this book downloadable in russia?

thanks

You will have to find another bookstore that can make your book available in Russia (like Kindle, Nook, Kobo, or Googlebooks) and then convert your book to the format they require.

They are probably apps.  Without a title it is impossible to tell what you are talking about exactly.

Is your book free?  Only free books are available in Russia.

Did you classify it as a "textbook"?  I think you might need to clasify it otherwise for access outside the US.

    yep, my book is free

but i can't set its availability in itunesconnect, there is no 'Russia'  option in the list

also, i classified it as a 'book' , not 'textbook'. it has a lot of photos inside, so i decided that is not a textbook.

by the way, what is the difference between 'book' and 'textbook' for ibookstore?

Then, as I suggested in my first reply, you will have to find another bookstore. Or put it on a server and advertise it yourself someplace.

I think at present "textbooks" may only be available in the US and are intended for use by schools.

so this is very strange: my book is classified as 'book'  (not textbook), it's free

and russians still can't download it

but E.O.Wilson's Life on Earth is available in Russia!

thank you for help, but i can't understand this...

Sure, give that a try.  But I don't think there is anything you can do about the fact that iTunes connect has a certain list of countries and that Russia is not on it yet.   I would expect that the same list applies to aggregators too.  There is nothing you can do to change that list and nobody here can tell you why it isn't bigger or when Apple will make it bigger.

An aggregator can perhaps at least suggest other bookstores to use and generate the appropriate formats for them.

Life on Earth is irrelevant -- it's a sample provided directly by Apple to illustrate what iBook Author can do.

epubbud will publish your free book

check out the new series to help create publications. just search in the iTunes Store for An iBuild Opportunity
