hmmm...what do options need to be? Its actually my mother's iMac (she is not so Mac savvy) but I can hopefully lead her through it

Change your DNS to 184.108.40.206 and then re-connect. After having registered, try 220.127.116.11 or 18.104.22.168 dns and tell me its helpful

I have the same problem, sound being dropped after several minutes.
And this forum is a maze - needs to be coordinated and answered by Apple.

I just posted a question to the support group on this very thing - only on a mac to mac facetime conversation.
After 30 minutes, I lose the ability to hear their audio but they have no problems. Video transmits with no problem.

Does this DNS change solution apply also to iOS devices such as iPads?
I have a similar problem with FT audio, except that in my case the problem seems localized to an iPad 3G that has problems SENDING audio to an iPad 2G.
We switched to FT a couple of months ago because of poor quality when using Skype, and FT was noticeably better for the first few calls. However, we have now started getting loss of audio from the iPad 3G after 5-10 min. In one case, the audio returned for 5-10 sec., but then never came back.
We now switch to Skype when this problem occurs; the quality is not so good, but the audio does not drop out.
The owner of the iPad 3G has had similar problems in other FT calls.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might happen? Could marginal upload bandwidth at the IPad 3G end cause this? (It seems unlikely; I would expect FT to shed video before audio so that the users could still communicate effectively.)

I am using Facetime regularly and am having exactly the same problem with audio cutting out after about 10 mins consistently. I am calling from my MAC desktop to an iPad2. The problem is the receiving caller cannot hear audio but i can hear them fine.
My DNS settings are set to 22.214.171.124 and 126.96.36.199 but problem is continuing to occur.
Very frustrating and no obvious help available...

I'm having the same problem. It started after upgrading to Mountain Lion.
Using Facetime between two Mac laptops. The outgoing audio/video are fine, but after 10-15min we get no incoming audio. The incoming video is fine.
Anyone have a good soution?
