Q: How do you copy and paste text etc in Safari browser tabs?

New to Mac. Can anyone advise me how you can copy and paste text etc whilst browsing in Safari tabs. Also and shortcuts that may assist me.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

A:
  1. Drag cursor across text with mouse depressed to highlight text
  2. Hold cmd (Apple key) and hit key C
  3. Put cursor where you want to paste
  4. Hold cmd and hit key V
