Jul 1, 2012 8:59 PM in response to Lamborghini92by Moo Dang,Yeah Lambo, therein lies my rub. I bought the phone in the US, but live in Thailand. There are no 'official' Apple stores here in Thailand, and shipping it back (and possibly forth and back and forth and...) to the US is just not practical for me. Not to mention that Thailand doesn't have the best postal service reputation, but that's another story.
Ironically, I felt more comfortable buying the phone in the US while I was there, than buying it here for the very reason that if I had problems with it here I wouldn't get reliable service. Live and learn... or as my friend always said, Pay and Learn!
Thanks for that link, I'll check it out.

Jul 2, 2012 1:50 AM in response to Unhappy in South Floridaby anthonyamber,Thousands of users have this problem with their iPhone, but Apple have sold millions of units. I guess that the percentage of faulty phones is small enough that Apple just couldn't be bothered?
In any case, since upgrading from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 the problem has not gone away but it does seem to happen far less than it used to.

Jul 2, 2012 2:33 AM in response to Lamborghini92by martinsmyth,Hey Lamborgini92,
The only thing that works is turning of the 3G that fixes the problem, my phone is currently up to date with the latest software.
I personally think it's to do with the modem within the 4s itself to me it's the only explanation for it working without 3G enabled.
I was searching on google for Modem problems with the 4s and found "MacRumors - Thread" which doesn't explain all the problems but thats just based on one guys issues.
Thank you for the advice though "I looked over my last post (to me) it sounded a bit cheeky which was not intended"

Jul 9, 2012 6:57 PM in response to Fengskyby Dunconia,I have this problem. Call fails about 50% of the time I want to use it. I disable wifi and Cellular Data and I can call. I don't always have to disable to use the phone, but if the call fails then disabling wifi and Cellular Data lets me call out. Thing is...I still can get texts even when the phone doesn't work. What's up with this? Is Apple going to fix this?

Jul 9, 2012 8:18 PM in response to Fengskyby CobaltHeritage,White, 4s, 14?GB, Version 5.1.1, Verizion. We have 2 4s's in the house, the other is black, it works great, my white one drops calls after about 12 seconds often and about 50% of calls I can't be understood, words cutting out. This is my 2nd white 4s and Verizion would not replace the sim, they said it had nothing to do with phone usage in the US. Tried the power off, network reset, tower reset, ect.

Jul 10, 2012 4:21 AM in response to Lamborghini92by martinsmyth,Hey Lamborghini92 yeah my phone is up to date I went to apple explained all the stuff I did to find the problem with the phone eg;
Swapped sim card with another Iphone 4s user (problem still occured in same phone)
Hard + Soft resets etc.. explained that it may be a modem issue but that was based on my own examination of the phone which they agreed it was a possibility.
so I stuck my hand in the lucky bag and now I have a new iphone 4s and no problems (so far) I know some people constantly replaced theirs and still had the problem but am not having these problem any more.
Like I said in prior posts it has to be a modem issue its not network related its not a faulty sim card and doing resets didn't work.
I was able to make calls when 3G was disabled but with 3G enabled only 1 out of 5 calls and 1 out of 3 text messags or imessages worked.

Jul 10, 2012 4:32 AM in response to Fengskyby TallAndy,I just think its flawed antenna design and the fix will be... use a 3GS or the new 5. Strange how it doesn't affect some people though.
I've had 2 4S's and the only thing that works consistently for me is turning off WiFi and 3G - this seems to make calls stable.

Jul 16, 2012 11:40 AM in response to Fengskyby Chickyrenee,I have an iphone 4s. Sometimes when someone calles me my phone wont ring and after four rings it will go to voicemail. If the person leaves a voicemail then it will show I have a missed call and if the person does not leave a voicemail it will not show that someone has called. Apple blames AT&T and AT&T blames apple. I have tried resetting my network settings, restoring my phone, and turning off my network. Nothing seems to help and its really getting fustrating that an expensive phone like this wont work right. Apple you need to get it together and get this issue fixed. I know for sure in the future I will not buy another phone from apple. Not only is this problem annoying but I have problems with itunes all the time. Its so stupid that you have to do everything on itunes and it wont even work correctly. For who ever sees this message if you want a phone that is hard to work with, unrealible, and just a pain then get an iphone.

Jul 22, 2012 10:08 AM in response to Fengskyby d4wnie,I have had nothing but problems with my Iphone 4 since the day i have had it... it continually drops calls or wont connect even with full signal. My partner works late hours and it doesnt matter what time of the day i use my phone, it still drops calls. I went into see my service provider who assures me that its not the signal for the area, and possibly i need to get a diagnostic test on the phone by Apple. Thats easier said than done as there isnt an apple shop in my home town. Everything else for the Iphone is fantastic, but for calls its rubbish!!!
I pay for a service that im unable to use most of the time!! ridiculous!!

Sep 4, 2012 8:26 AM in response to henrikBjorneby Apple_iPhone4,i had issues with calls dropping. for me, it was related to my service provider. i was living in a very densely populated area and my local tower was having issues with capacity. during peak hours my calls would drop not because my iphone 4s was defective or glitchy, but because my provider was overloaded and couldn't handle the amount of network traffic it was being thrown. provider eventually upgraded network and now i have no issues whatsoever.
