    Yes, same here.

I've tried it several times, even re-installed iPhoto but no results. iPhoto is not working.

I am having the same problem!  I have tried holding down the option and command keys while opening iphoto and then rebuilding/repairing the database and nothing has worked.  HELP please.

    Hi Peter,

After reading your post, I remembered that the Dropbox application start out of the blue to import photos from my iPhone when I connect it to the computer. I thought that the problem could be there... So I quit the Dropbox app and iPhoto came back to life again. At least with my laptop. Tomorrow I will test the computers in the office, where I also have the Dropbox application running in the background, to see if these also resolves the problem.

Paulo,  Hello.  I have the exact SAME problem you had.  I received that exact same request, "Iphoto needs to be upgraded' and after I clicked on 'upgrade', I can no longer view ANY of my pictures!!!  Did you figure out what to do??  I am desperate for help!!!  Thanks for your time!!!  PS... what is the Dropbox App ???  How do I know if I have it??  Thanks.

    Hi Jonster,

The last iPhoto update solved my problem! What you have to do is the iPhoto update. If even after that it doesn't work, try to trash your iPhoto preferences. That should solve your problem.

P.S. If you don't don't know what Dropbox is, then you probably don't have the app.

Thanks for any more advice you have!!  I greatly appreciate it!!

Don't horry with your photos! You have all the photos in your iPhoto Library: crtl+mouse over iPhoto Library>Show Package Contents and search inside originals or master folder (the name depends on the version of your iPhoto).

Please check if you are running iPhoto 9.3.1. If not, you have to update. After that, backup your iPhoto Library (home>pictures>iPhoto Library) to an external HD. Then trash all your iPhoto preferences (home>library>preferences). To find it, you can do a search inside your library preferences, and if you want, before trash then you can also backup the preferences.

This should solve your problem. It work with me!

Hi Paolo, I followed this discussion and I have the same problem trying to open iPhoto after installation of Mountain Lion. I have the latest update for iPhoto already, but still it will not open and quits immediately after opening. this also means I cannot even get to my preferences for IPhoto to take them out.

Is there anyone who has another solution for this, or figured out what worked? Thanks!

    Hi Charlotte,

I solved this problem by quiting all programms in the top menubar, like Dropbox. Since than, Mac OS X 10.7 en Maoutain Lion I am having no problems with iPhoto.

My library upgraded just fine on my iMac but it's being overly frustrating on my MBP.  Here are lines from the crash report:

    Application Specific Information:

    dyld: launch, loading dependent libraries

    Dyld Error Message:

      Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/NyxAudioAnalysis.framework/Versions/A/NyxAudioAnalysis

      Referenced from: /Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/Frameworks/iLifeSlideshow.framework/Versions/ A/iLifeSlideshow

Reason: no suitable image found.  Did find:

        /Library/Frameworks/NyxAudioAnalysis.framework/Versions/A/NyxAudioAnalysis: mach-o, but wrong architecture

        /Library/Frameworks/NyxAudioAnalysis.framework/Versions/A/NyxAudioAnalysis: mach-o, but wrong architecture

So how do I restore the frameworks files?  I have followed advice on other posts (re: deleting the app and the receipts files that pertain to iPhoto.)   Shouldn't all the necessary files already be a part of iPhoto install??  This is the ONLY app on my MBP and iMac that is misbehaving.

I'm having the exact some problem and am extremely frustrated! My computer is only a few months old so I have the most recent Iphoto program and saw that there were updates last night so went ahead and installed them. Now it won't even open! I'm so frustrated with Apple right now!!! This happened on my Ipad and after I ran the updates had to completely wipe my Ipad and start from scratch! Apple really needs to get these things figured out!!
