Sep 5, 2012 5:18 PM in response to Klaus_Aby Alan Lees,Thank you all for this however I am experiencing a 'shrink wrapper' problem when trying to up date my g3 mac (I am getting the downloads on new mac putting them on a USB drive ...plgging this in to old mac and attempting to mount...keep getting this shrink wrapper message so it aint working} interestingly os 9 describes a portable usb drive as a "cartridge" but thats another issue
I feel a bit ****** off I am merely trying to return an old slot loading imac to where it was when I stopped using it but my original install disks are 9.03 and I am not internet enabled on g3
I payed for all this stuff years ago so it should be easy

Sep 6, 2012 3:49 AM in response to Alan Leesby Neville Hillyer,There is probably a better way to do this:
1 - Download files to the new Mac from http://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/apple/ without opening or decompressing etc.
2 - Link new and old Macs with a single Ethernet cable - modern Macs auto-configure so this works as long as one Mac is not too old.
3 - Copy downloaded files to the old Mac.
4 - Double click files on the old Mac - they should open without ShrinkWrap being involved.
If this fails to work you could try opening downloaded files on the new Mac and copying the contents to the old Mac..
