Q: it won't install despite having aperture and iphoto

like the last 3 before it the Camera RAW updates from Apple will NOT show in software update or the manually downloaded .dmg will fail to install despite having bought BOTH iphoto 9.3 and Aperture 3.3.1 from the App Store (eg latest versions) and having them installed.

the insrtaller fails saying i must have either iphoto 9 or Aperture 3 installed and yet BOTH are on mys system and it wont allow me to update my RAW files.

Apple please fix this bug as although its possible to manually extract the files and replace them myself as they reside in the system i'm loated to do it as last attempt caused a kernel panic.

Please update the installer so its doesnt stop installs on system that do qualify..

I prefer to trust Apple and the OS and only download those updates offered in SU - unless it is offered to me there, I assume that I either already have it or don't need it (take a look at the specific cameras on the download site - do you have one or all of those?). Sometimes the updates also specifically address a certain build or version, so I would not worry about it unless I have one of the cameras listed AND am unable to work on my RAW images.

ive downloaded the update direct from Apple and have the Nikon which wont work in RAW without the update and iphoto and Aperture but for some reason it wont install or update (or show as available) using lion 10.7.4.

so until I can install the camera raw update - I cant work in RAW format.  the real bug being the installer says it needs either or both applications which I have and bought via the app store..

Okay, I agree that is strange since you even have the camera - are you still covered by warranty? In that case, I'd call Apple. If not, I'd book an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar (free) and have them check it out.
