Hi, thanks for your help. Have tried reboot as you said. Still got the kindle app stalled mid-update. Still can't delete it either. I wonder if it is significant that I subscribe to Kindle in Australia, but I am currently touring USA?
Another thread advised that there is a "blockage" in the download, and ths must be cleared out. I'll try and figure this out.
It is possible that because you are out of your country - where the download started - that maybe causing the stall. It's just my theory. You have to be located in the country where your credit card is registered and have an address for that credit card that matches the address on the card billing statement - in order to download so perhaps ???
You can check iTunes and see if you have a stalled download in there causing this stalled download, you can try signing out of your account and signing back in again (Settings>Store>Apple ID) and see if that helps loosen the clog. Make sure that you are still logged into your country in the app store as well. You can access your Apple ID in the bottom left corner of the featured tab of the app store - tap on it - select "View Apple ID" - enter your password - go down to Country/Region - make sure that you are in the correct store.
Thanks Demo. I didmwhatbyou suggested. Included closing down some partially loaded magazines. I checked my apple store country; it was Australia, my country. I logged out and logged in. But still Kindle will not update nor run. I think it was a mistake to try and update a subscription service app outside my own country. I will give up now and do without the Kindle app. Next stop: buy a real paperback forth long journeys ahead this month touring USA.
