This morning Software Update prompted me to update Airport Utility to V5.6.1 and I did.

Up until now I have been using the iMac's internal WiFi capability with Airport for a short range wireless network which allowed using WiFi for an internet streaming device to watch Netflix on TV. It will also allow iPhone and iPad WiFi internet connectivity.

After the update I cannot get Airport to aquire an internet connection through the network I set up. I turn on Airport and first get the message "Airport does not have an IP address assigned and cannot connect to the internet". After about 15 seconds this changes to "Airport has a self assigned IP address, 169.254.175.198 and will not be able to connect to the internet"

I know there's no problem with the modem because I the iMac is online, it's just that I can't get Airport to get internet connectivity.

I have looked around the web for help, I have powered down both my iMac and my modem, I have deleted and reinstated Internet Sharing from Ethernet connection to Airport, keychain password, renewed the DHCP lease, etc. I also see that the network I have set up is not in the Network Name pull down list for Airport. I deleted Airport Utility 5.6.1 and reinstallled the original 5.4.1.

Nothing helps. When I turn on AirportI still get the message "Airport does not have an IP address assigned and cannot connect to the internet". After about 15 seconds this changes to "Airport has a self assigned IP address, 169.254.175.198 and will not be able to connect to the internet".

Any idea's what's going on here? I miss my Netflix.
