I just moved to iCloud and I am unable to get my .mac mail using Entourage. I set up my account as discribed in the help but I can't get to my mail with Entourage. Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Johnny

    Your not alone Johnny!

I just hit this wall myself. First I found out that I had to modify or easier create a new account in Entourage because iCloud doesn't support POP.

So I found this article (  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864  )that gave me the IMAP info. It of course requires secure SMTP connections so you have to select the Advanced setup section and put in the different port number of 587 instead of the normal 25 and check SSL required.

After doing all that I expected it to work. BUT NOOOO, Entourage say's:

    "

Authentication failed because Entourage doesn't support any of the available authentication methods.

    "

Ok so this is going to have to be put off until I have had some sleep!

Use these settings, use them exactly, try SSL & TLS for authentification, one will work (usually SSL) Ignore the Manual Setup section, it's for Mac Mail, Entourage is always 'manual'

Well... I accidentally figured it out not too long after posting for help. But what did I do? I am in no way a technical person so I can only give sketchy information.

If I remember correctly, I added a new account in Entourage for iCloud. I am not sure what settings I changed- if any, but I've put them below. The next time I opened Entourage I had a new folder below all my other folders called "iCloud" with a little network looking green line to the left of it. Under it are my Inbox, Sent, Deleted, Drafts, and Junk folders all with the same little icon. I'm sure I should know what that is, but I really don't I just know it works.

Under "Account Settings" under the "Entourage" menu tab there is now an account for iCloud and it shows it as IMAP.

I'm not sure my settings will help anyone else, but here they are:

Under receiving mail- click for advanced settings:

Checked- This IMAP service requires a secure connection (SSL).

Under sending mail- click for advanced settings:

Checked- SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL).

Checked- Override default SMTP port: 587

Checked- SMTP server required authentication (under that) radio button selected for Use same settings as receiving mail server

I hope this can help someone! Good luck. I was very frustrated, but now that I've got it working it's actually kind of cool to be able to check my mail at work and it's the same that's saved on my computer.
