You simply drag the icon to the trash can in the dock and then go up to the File menu bar and choose empty trash.
As for the printer, it would really depend what you want it for - photo printing, scanning, b/w printing only, etc, etc. I have an all-in-one Epson Artisan 810 (new model 835 I believe) and it does what I need it to do extremely well.

take a look at Epson Artisan 835.

I had to buy one recently. I settled on a Brother HL2280dw.
It just works great overall if you need a one with a scanner (colour) and monocrome (printing) wireless.
It is a laser printer and will save you $ in the long run over time as opposed to inkjet cartriges.
