It's been five days now that I've been running Match against my 21k song library. Five days. Once, about a third of the way through, iTunes force quit, and I had the joy of starting over. Now, with 9000 songs matched, 3000 songs uploaded, and 10000 more to go, iTunes has a 4010 error. Again, and again, and again. I've been gone all night, it's now 11:07 CST, and I'm still getting the error.

Every time I get the error, I start the process over again. Five days we've been at it now -- have I mentioned that. If the iCloud/iTunes/Match software folks are lurking anywhere on these boards, please know -- MATCH IS NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME.

I would love to know if this is the servers getting nuked, or my ISP shaping traffic from me (anyone else using TimeWarner?), or maybe it's sunspots. But it seems like I'm not the only one with issues.

And I'm not about to wipe five days worth of HD's grinding and activity lights blinking just because Apple's server farm punched out for a smoke break.

The error has returned for me; I am also on TimeWarner, but I doubt that's the issue. I imagine Apple's servers are geting swamped right now. It's a weekend, and there seem to be a lot of people talking about this issue just in the last couple hours, by looking at this thread and on Twitter.

    FWIW, my ISP is AT&T.

I'm going to try iTunes Match again tomorrow. Maybe it will be working then.

I am having similar trouble - I had ~10,000 of my 12,000 songs uploaded, then the whole thing freaked out, I got the 4010 error, I tried a couple of the above "fixes", and now I'm back to square one — I'm now looking at another dozen or so hours of uploading and many GB of bandwidth usage, when and if match ever actually reconnects.

Match seems like a good idea, but it hasn't worked at all since I paid for it the day it was released. Once again, the early-adopters get to enjoy the added excitement that comes from having assumed things would actually work as advertised.

You'd think I'd have learned my lesson long ago, but I apparently fell for another of Apple's fairy tales about a new and magical product offering, …

Oh — my ISP is CenturyLink, so it's looking less likely that this is the fault of a single ISP.

I've done nothing for a couple hours, and now it's working again. My guess is still just server load.

Justin, just wanted to let you know that I was able to successfully start using iTunes Match again this morning. And all the work it had done was NOT undone. It went back to where it was before I started getting the 4010 error. So I just wanted to let you know that your suggestion doesn't ruin things for everyone!

Thanks JustinWhite! That OPTION-click procedure worked on my secondary Mac that's been giving me 4010 errors for a week now. It left the contents of my iTunes Match library that was uploaded from my primary Mac untouched and intact.

I'm an independant Mac service tech, and I see nothing wrong with your advice.  Sometimes you have to try the what you think what might work or what has worked for others.  You just make sure you have a good backup of your data so there is no loss, and certainly don't start a large undertaking like loading you're entire music library to a brand new service when you dont have the time it takes to click the "start" button once more and let your machine sit and upload data.

Count me in. more than 24 hrs trying to get match to work. either error 4010 or error 4001. completely disconnected...

I cancelled automatic subscription renewal, maybe if millions do so, apple starts looking for this problem...
