Which operating system version? I don't know if you can uninstall it if you are using Lion 10.7.
Why do you want to do this? If you provide us with specific problems or error messages you are seeing there may be a better way.

I'd like to do this too.
I'm having 2 problems, my wife 1 problem on 2 seperate macbooks - 10.6.8 with Itunes 10.6.3;
1 - Apple Lossless files becoming corrupt when importing artwork;
2 - Some videos cause Itunes crash.
3 - Playlists occassionally decide to delete a lot of tracks (usually all but 2 or 3). It'll happen to one playlist at a time. Very random, very annoying.
I'd like to drop back to 10.2.2 as I don't recall having any of the 3 issues at that time and I don't use the cloud or match.I had the same video files back then too.
anyone able to suggest a method? Reinstall of OS seems a bit dramatic, but given how much I use Itunes, kind of essential.
My only worry in all the versions following that is this from 10.5.2 "fixes an audio distortion problem when playing or importing cds" - does anyone know what version that issue started?

You should be able to simply visit: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ to download iTunes, and run the installer to overwrite your previous version...

I don't think this will fix your problem with restoring your iPhone 4 though. That is likely a seperate issue.
but i can do it with any windows?
Yes, you can theoretically restore your iPhone with any computer running the most current version of iTunes (10.6.3) unless there is some other issue.
I get error code(21)
According to this support article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error21:
"These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service."
Do you run any anti-virus or third-party firewalls on your computer? Try disabling them and trying the restore process again. It may be possible that one of these security applications is interfering with the iPhone's ability to authenticate with Apple's servers.

In general installing over an exisiting install of an application won't do much. Chances are on the mac OS the problem is caused by preferences or plugins. Just a troubleshooting tip in general to help folks. Installing over the app doesn't reset anything.

I'm wondering the same thing because I do not like this new 11.o vwersion of iTunes! It does not allow me to sync up my iPhone ! the previous version did, whether I connected directly with the chargeer, or Wi-FI! This doesn't. I see the phone but it will not allow me to drag and drop my music off of my desk top. If I connect my phone directly, it syncs through 5 stages, and then that's it. i check to import my miusic that is checked, and it still doesn't. The only music I can put on my phone is music I purchased via iTues through the Cloud!! Annoying! I have other music and can't get it. I tried to get rid of iTues 11, nd I don't seem to be able to, nor can I download an older version, because it stops me saying I have a newer version already on it'! HELP!!

Overwriting iTunes 11 with a previous version has not worked.

iTunes 11 is a hateful, annoying interface. I've tried to adjust to it, but it's just terrible. Very disappointing from Apple.
I've downloaded an earlier version, but it won't let me overwrite. How can I uninstall?

YES! iTunes 11 is a horrid piece of trash. Between me, my wife and kids, our household has 3 different iPods and an iPhone. This new version of iTunes no longer recognizes any of the iPods. I cant update playlists, add or remove tracks, nor sync any of my Nike+ info anymore. One of the base funcitons of iTunes it TO MANAGE OTHER APPLE DEVICES! Yet it misserably fails to do so now. I want iTunes 10 back but am trapped with this pile of garbage.

I had no problems until 11.02. Now I can't sync or backup my iPhone anymore.
Someone told me to uninstall and reinstall... but do they mean simply trashing the iTunes app, then downloading the app again?

I am also having a simular problem. After clicking on software update for itunes, the 11.02 update wiped out my intire play list. I have about 50 or so play list with hundreds of songs espicially lined up in the order I want them to play. Itunes seams to want to do this for you via "Genius" I guess I don't know what songs I want to listen to!!
I can't belive that Apple would allow this to go on. Steve Jobs must be rolling over in his grave.

OK PEOPLE IT SEEMS LIKE I HAVE SOLVED THIS
Connect iPod to iTunes (cable or Wifi). Select all the songs in your library and uncheck. Click on your iPod in the side bar. In the Summary page, scroll down a little and look for the box 'Manually manage music and videos'. Uncheck that box.
The box above it called 'Sync only checked songs and videos' will be automatically checked now.
Go to your music library = main iTunes window, select all the songs, right click and select 'check selection'.
Click on your iPod and click Sync. The music will start to copy.
