Have you run a Restore on the iPod yet, from the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes. This will erase the iPod's hard driive and install the latest version of software set to default settings.
FYI - 120GB is one of the more recent iPod classic models.

Yes did a full restore/update several times. I know the 120gb is a fairly recent model but Jensen support says this is the only model that will not play video through the docking cable. They said the 160gb would play fine though and i confirmed this by using a friends. I did run across something about apple using a keyed chip on these models that prevented 3rd. parties cables not working, but didnt bookmark it so dont remember the full details.
Is that the issue on this model? Hate to buy a 160 ipod since it spends 99% of its time in the dash.
This is for playing videos, not music? Does the iPod actually "play" the video and send video output to the Jenson system, or is it just acting as file storage with the Jensen system accessing the video file from iPod and playing the video?
If it's the latter, can it access the video file from something else, like a USB flash drive, and play the video?
If the iPod just acts as file storage, which is often the case with audio-only systems that have "iPod integration," it always seems like a waste (because "it spends 99% of its time in the dash"). I'd rather use an iPod as an iPod, and get one or more cheap 32GB USB flash drives to use with the car audio system.

Playing videos using Jensen j-link cable (hookups on bottom of ipod) the video will play fine but there is no audio with it. mp3's play fine though. The radio has full control of the ipod (playlist, menus,etc...on mp3's or videos.
I can use the a/v cable on headphone jack port and get video with audio. The problem with this method is i cant use the radio to control but have to use the ipods. Also this is nowhere near the quality level as directly docked would be.
