If you want to set a reminder to do something when you are in a specific location, you must BE IN THAT LOCATION TO SET IT.

This kind of defeats the point, and makes the location service in reminders nothing more than a gimmick.

What we need to be able to do is set an address in the reminder.

That way we would be able to set reminders for locations before we go to the location.

I would love to be able to set a reminder that says...

When I go to the supermarket, I must buy a litre of milk. If I'm already at the supermarket and setting a reminder to buy milk, I may as well just buy the **** stuff while I'm there LOL.

Come on Apple, make this a defining feature of IOS 5 and not just a gimmick.

Not true.  However, the address must be in your address book.

In the reminder, click on current location.  You will then be given an option to "Choose address..." click on that and it will open your address book.

I do agree we should be able to manually enter the address.  i would expect that in a future update.

    WRONG.

The address must be in your Contacts to select it if you aren't at the location. Since I have my work address included with my contact info in Contacts, I can select my work address as a location reminder when anywhere. There is also a Choose Address selection which allows for selecting an address for a contact in your Contacts, but you can't manually enter a physical address - not at the present time anyway.

I'm having the problem of the iPhone not knowing where I'm at.  I set it to remind me when I get home, which is in my address book.  But when I get home the reminder does not go off because the GPS has me more than a mile away.

    Any suggestions?

My iPhone4 is working properly especially the GPS Location works. When I set the Reminder to my home adress the reminder doesn't go off leaving or arriving there. When I set it to my office-adress or another one I have the same problem.

IMO, the worst part is that you can not choose a random location from maps via pin drop.  Even if you could put in a custom address, this would not be enough for me. You must know or look up the address.  If i am on my way to or from somewhere and i need to be reminded while on the road and i don't know the name of a place/store/location but know that it sits somewhere on RT1x, i want to be able to go to google maps, drop a pin anywhere and use that pin as the location for a reminder. That way, i am driving home and as i get close enough or pass by the location it will remind me. It is extremely disappointing that Apple would not think of these simple things or fix them bofore release.  They made people wait for the 4s too long as it is and had enough time to deal with atleast the major selling points of the phone.

I agree here. An address or pin drop feature would make this a great app. I would use it for when out on the road. You don't want your contact list filled with every shop or premise address you have to visit in the course of a day. And it would save me buying packs of sticky notes.

In the reminder app after creating your reminder you can search for any address. Admittedly this is not as convinient as simply dropping a pin, but it will allow you to set a reminder for any address (regardless of whether the address is in your contacts).

You can also changed the radius around the pin within which you will be reminded.
