HiYa All, Guess what! Yup, having the exact same issue. Been on the phone all morning, Apple Support gave me a ticket also: 325185284. Nehoo, I have purchased a few of the guitar artist lessons in the past and they are working fine. GarageBand and the other lessons are working just fine. However, I can't buy new artist lessons, I can download everything except for the artist lessons. When I mouse over the $4.99 icon, it turns green and changes to "buy now" text, but doesn't do anything at all once I click it. Apple Support had me delete the entire application AND directory files, which caused me to force download the application (around 360MB) AND also the rest of the program at 1.6GB size-wise. After installing the new setup, there is no change. It still doesn't work correctly. Please, if any of you get any relief, let us all know! I will do the same, but I'm not holding my breath!
peace - jaa

it is crazy how Apple is not considering a huge issue for the GarageBand customers ! At the end we just want to buy sth from them. Is this a sign that we are not a priority for them i.e. they are more concentrated in making big revenues out od i* devices ?

I had to re-install Garageband recently, so I thought it was just a bad install. Now, I can't redownload my artist lessons. The Basic, Pop, and Classical Piano lessons work just fine though! As a side note, does anyone know a way to back up the lessons (Time Machine aside) to avoid this happening again?

I have the same problem. Spent about an hour on the phone with them. I have applecaresupport. Gb11 version 6.0.5 and macos 10.7.4.
Support tried hard, then put me onto sales/accounts who were fn useless. Asked I I googled it. Then I think they found this thread and said a few people have the problem and there is no solution.
Suggested I buy mountain leopard later this month gbp13.99 and a new GarageBand version will download with it. Maybe it will magically fix problem. Yeah, right.

I have every intention of buying the new OS upgrade and the new iLife suite, so hopefully that will help. Although, I just don't accept that there is "no solution." Basically, they are saying they don't wish to support their iLife products anymore, or at least only support the "easy" fixes.
Regardless, I still can't use the Artist lessons store to download anything AND since Apple Customer Support forced me to delete the old/re-download a new Garageband, now ALL of my previous artist purchases are gone. The store/software won't even allow me to log in anymore. May not be important to Apple, I understand it is only ten of them and at $4.99 a piece, we are only talking about $50.00 (approx), but the point is I have paid Apple for products they refused to deliver! I guarantee you if I owed Apple $50 and it was ten days past due, they would send it out to collection!
Frustrating as all get out.
I'm hoping that they are working on this but I doubt it, seriosuly doubt it. More than likely they have given up on the old software in hopes that the new version will work with the store's interface. Maybe there is some sort of error between the new software's interface to the store and our old but current version of Garageband. Who knows.
Only thing I know is that it (Garageband) don't work! I remember the good old days of Classic! <sigh> Happier times, and times when Apple's software actually worked!! lol

Comeon guys . We are now a group of frustrated Apple users. Design is great, good engineering make it better but it is customer support that makes the difference between a so-so company and a star. I think some Apple boss will get our feedbacks sooner or later. Social CRM tools are there in the market to measure customer sentiment. Let's hope at least they use some and try put link to this thread on tw and fb lol.

This thread goes on from June, 25th without a response from Apple?
The problem was exactly explained to the service team at Apple:
No access to the lesson store, no function while pressing the "Account" button.
Reliable tested mail function with OS X.6.4 up to the current OS X.7.4.
I assume, missing/cancelled links on the web site.
Bad service or miss-management?
The "valued customer" already bought the product,
the "Express Lane" as shoulder...
