Hi all,

I've been playing some fairly graphic intensive games on my MBP going through boot camp running Windows 7. Although I'm connected to power, I've noticed that over long-ish gaming sessions (2-3 hours) that my battery level will drain to the 95% point where it needs to start charging again. Does anyone know why despite running off powercord that my battery is draining? Is Windows still drawing power from the battery instead of going through the socket instead?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

This also happens on Mac. The battery stops charging when it has at least 95% of battery life left. If goes below that mark it will start charging.

Ok, from my understand your computer will charge your battery to 100% then it'll stop charging the battery and simply supply power.  Over time your battery will degrade and need to recharge again.  It is a bad idea to leave your computer charging while its at a full charge. See Apple - Batteries for more information.

You're using more power than the charger can supply.

At full load the power supply can not provide enough to run and charge simultaneously, what you are seeing is normal.

Can you remove the battery and play using the charger/power cable only, this will extend the life of the rather expensive battery by a considerable amount.

Laptop batteries only have a certain number of charges, by leaving the battering in this way you are using up on of those charges.(or part of)

No you can't, besides, batteries wear out, in time you will replace it, worrying about it is a waste of energy.
