What I generally find is that while the single transfer session remains speeds and stable, any other connections are affected by the web browsing. For example, when my Time Machine backup kicks in, internet browsing becomes 90% unusable. It's the same with file transfers.

I'm not sure if they'll raise bugs in-store as I know they're always really busy, but I'll book another visit in once I've done some more testing.

    I think I found a solution,...here's what I did

    Open keychain access

Delete all wireless's stored here under "Login" and "system"

HD> Library>preferences> delete system configuration folder(at the bottom)

    restart the mac..

    connect to your wireless again.

    Open keychain access

    right-click on your wireless

    get info

    access control

    allow all applications

    my wireless doesn't drop anymore

    :-D

lemme know if it works for you too.

    cheers

I will never use the internal MBP wi-fi again after purchasing and installing the tiny little ASUS N-10 USB dongle... Works flawlessly and just proves how unreliable Apple's own wifi really is.

Thanks for the heads up in previous posts, sad we have to resort to PC companies to make things work as they should.

OMG cant believe this is still a probably I sorted mine and forgot about it.

BUT I just changed ISP and got a new modem and am having issues speed seems fine, but sometimes it just wont load some pages.

"Oops! Google Chrome could not find maps.google.co.nz"

is this the same old MBP problem or this a problem with my ISP...I've tried a few of the fixes on the last few pages but so far nothing has worked, cant rememeber what i did last time it as nearly a year ago...

    Thanks amandepp!

Same problem, same solution as above. Worked flawlessly!

Try it for those having the same problem.

Same problem here; had always been a Windows user and last year had the brilliant idea of getting a Mac so I could run some software of my interest. To start, apple with its new Lion ruined all my plans since I could not run any of the PPC applications I bought the mac for!!! Now I CAN'T even get online with the Mac... it is very ridiculus. The worst part is that it is almost twice as expensive than a top class Windows pc... this MAC is by far the worst computer I have owned; feel like Apple is just stealing our money; i see why the are considered so "smart", becasue they are; they manage to laugh at us selling a very dumb blondie super model. Good thing i kept my old compaq Laptop (w/windows VISTA), since I have been back to it while the new macbook pro sits there just looking sexy.

Its not a Mac and PC thing.  PC and Macs use the same wifi cards and technology.  Most of the time its just a bad location thats causing the problem.  If thats the case you should get a wifi signal booster.  With one of these you can get a much larger signal range and eliminate the problem.

I disagree, I believe its the aluminum case that actually causes directional signal issues. The hardware only works as well as the signal given it. I have a Dell laptop with of course a plastic case and get 130Mbps but my new Macbook Pro gets between 52 and 78 Mbps sitting in the same place. Now I can go closer to the router and the speeds go way up to more normal range. That tells me its not a hardware issue but a signal issue. If it was a hardware issue limiting speed the closer you got to the router the less improvement in speed. I find for example my older 2008 White Macbook with the plastic case getting much better speeds averaging 100 to 120Mbps. This is basically why Apple cannot address this issues that well because the antenna orientation and design are the problems.

    Antennagate?

I tought I would let everyone know. I just got my rMBP and same issue with dropping pings. Again does seem to affect much, but still very unsettelling that pings get dropped with a large transfer on a wireless network....

Oh so you know, I`m sitting right next to my AirPort Extreme Base station and transfering from it as well..

Then use a cable, it's much much faster.

Very smart comment ! You know I meant when testing right ?

You did not specify that, transfer was the word you used.
