TL;DR: For USA registrations, if you create a NEW AppleID, there are ways to complete the registration process without entering a credit card. If you have an EXISTING AppleID, you always need a credit card to complete the sign in process.

CAVEAT: I don't know what happens if you create a NEW AppleID, select None, and someday you have to re-accept the TOS and/or re-enter the payment screen. Will your "None" option still be available at this point?

As stated in many other threads, I think the biggest confusion here is between NEW Apple IDs and EXISTING Apple IDs. I ran into this problem when I opened iTunes, tried to sign in with my existing ID, and it made me re-accept the TOS and prompted me for credit card info. Wouldn't let me Continue without putting in credit card info.

My USA based EXISTING Apple ID does not have the None option. Unfortunately, I think it's as simple as that:

If you want to setup a NEW Apple ID without a credit card, there's a bunch of hoops you can jump through that are detailed in many other posts - these involve downloading a Free App and things of that nature.

Sometimes, you  need to re-accept the TOS (for instance, loading up iTunes and it tells you that you haven't used this device with iTunes before). If you sign in with an EXISTING Apple ID, you will not be presented with the None option. You have to put in a credit card.

Try to change the country, located at the top,, choose phil. then click,, the none option will appear.

Ok, since while back I created a secondary ID for not using a DC (debit card) and get free stuff with it. I tried to use it to update apps I bought with my DC account, but it always takes me back to sign in to that account, so I'm not able to update apps with the "None" card account as a workaround.

Question: How can it be done? Is it possible to change the DC to a GC (gift card) and use it to update my apps or I would end with the same problem?

Deal is, the DC card I use, is an old one in desuse and only for iTunes. I just have enough money there for apps and updates, but because of that, is costing me a bank monthly fee which I'm trying to eliminate simply by using a GC. If I close the bank account for that particular DC, I'm concerned I wouldn't be able to update the apps I purchased with it and left out to dry in the sun.

Any solutions for this out there?

As we have said often, only the ID that acquired the content can update the content.

Yes supplying a $10 gift card and possibly removing the bank card should allow you to update the apps, AFAIK. Some folks report issues removing a bank ard and not supplying another.

prob is, when there are new updates for the downloaded free apps, we need the same apple id we used to get it, then it will prompt us again to update payment method and this time there is no "none" option .. so we cannot update the apps anymore unless we put in credit card details. This issue must be fixed by apple

Go to app store, select a free app, install a free app, create a new apple id, select none for payment option but you still have to put in your billing information ( an actual address with a zipcode ). that's how you create an apple id without a credit card.

This is the second account I create, because I guess i forgot the password to my first one and I wouldn't get an email to reset it. And now I need to add my billing info again to this new one but I'm just trying to download free apps. I'm doing this of my iPhone. So is there any way?

Apple really has some problems -.-

The info in the link that I shared in my first comment is useful. No matter how frustrated that you may be, there is no reason or justification for attacking the participation of other users.
