Unable to connect Macbook Pro to IPhone 4S via Bluetooth. I get the code for pairing which I accept on the IPhone but there is no connection and my IPhone says that Macbook Pro is not supported.

Similarly I am not able to connect Nokia Headset BH-217 to my IPhone 4S via Bluetooth. However, I was able to connect the Nokia Headset BH-217 to my old IPhone 3GS via Bluetooth.

Please help.

    Hi..

It's not possible to pair an iPhone with a Mac. If you need to transfer photos, video, calendars, contacts, etc, connect the iPhone to your computer, launch iTunes.

    iOS: Syncing with iTunes

I am not able to connect Nokia Headset BH-217 to my IPhone 4S via Bluetooth. However, I was able to connect the Nokia Headset BH-217 to my old IPhone 3GS via Bluetooth.

The headset may not be compatible with devices running iOS 5 but rather the older version on your iPhone 3GS if it hasn't been updated. Check the Nokia site for Bluetooth / iPhone support.

I'm just discovering that m'y iPhone 4 and my MBP that had happily spent the last year paired under snow leopard are now sundered under Lion. Apple again has hit the jackpot.

And telling us we can't pair iPhones and MBPs is just plain wrong. I want to use my iPhone as a modem over Bluetooth and iTunes has nothing to do with that.

I have recently purchased an iPhone 4S and am surprised to learn I cannot pair it to my Macbook Pro via bluetooth. Actually, I have been unsuccessful in pairing the iphone 4S to any device via bluetooth. This is quite ludicrous, esp the Macbook Pro not being pairable. $750 down the drain and looks likely I will switch back to Android.

I am having the same problem.  I'm not trying to transfer files but need to connect via bluetooth so I can use the Keynote Remote on my iPhone 4s as I will be making a presentation in a room where there is no wifi.  According to the App Store, it says the Keynote Remote "can you Wi-Fi or Bluetooth when connecting iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch"!  Any help before I have to make a presentation in a few hours?

I just discovered that I am having this problem too!

I figured that there was a problem when trying to pair instead if being asked to input the code on my iPhone, I was simply asked to 'Confirm that the PIN code XXXXX is being shown on the MacBook Pro'

On the iPhone, the MacBook Pro is then shown as 'Not Connected'

When I click on it on the iPhone, I get the error:

    'Connection Unsuccessful'

    'MacBook Pro is not supported'

    'Forget this device'

I don't have any other issues with headphones and headsets connected to both devices and other phones, a Samsung and two Nokias, connecting to the MBP.

There seems to be no way to initiate pairing from the iPhone.

    Frankly, this is ridiculous.

As stated here, Keynote Remote does not work over Bluetooth between an iOS device and a Mac - only between iOS devices.

So, how is it supposed to be possible to use this application sold on the Mac App Store:

    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bluetooth-screen-lock/id509251123?mt=12

Note that in the screen shot on this page the paired devices are an iPad and an iPhone:

Not sure if you found the answer to your problem but to pair your phone to keynote remote..just goto settings and turn on personal hotspot. Then connect to the hotspot with airport on your macbook and then the remote works fine.

All of a sudden I am getting the same message on my iphone when attempting to connect to my Macbook Air. Bluetooth pairing worked fine for the last year and a half when I needed my personal hotspot, but now when I try to pair  so I can tether to the internet (which I pay big bucks for) I am told that my computer (Macbook Air) is "not supported" and my only choice is to "Forget Device" !!!! Fortunately I have a USB iphone charger cable which I can plug into an open USB port on Macbook Air which gives my the Personal Hotspot connection which makes me "physically tethered". What am I missing? Is this a bug or a conscious decision to prevent bluetooth pairing with the iphone for personal hotspot requirements?

Same problem here but I note this must be a bug in the new Lion OS X because this worked fine prior to me buying an installing the upgrade.  I understand that in this day and age so many things are integrated and linked Apple just can't get everything in the first go but kind sirs of Apple, it would be greatly appreciated if we could get your attention for you to fix this issue!  Thanks!  Keep posting Apple friends.  I think the more times we complain about this, the higher it moves up on the Apple list.

I'm having the same problem as Manrao. iPhone 4s and MacBrook Pro (Snow Leopard) will not connect. Very frustration. You think that would just work :-/
