Jul 12, 2012 2:29 PM in response to kanoeselby MichelPM,If I am not mistaken, I believe both eMacs use the original Airport card and not the extreme.
I am not sure about about the 800 MHz model, though.
The 700 and 800 MHz models came out at the same time. So, my feeling is they both take the basic Airport card.
I found a link an our version of Amazon.com for OS X compatible USB 1.1 compliant web cams.
If you can order from Amazon in your country, see if these are available there.
if not, you need to pick one and try to locate for purchase and install.
http://www.amazon.com/Mac-Compatible-Webcams/lm/R229XF7U7QM4Z6
If you can find and purchase this cam, this is the one I bought for my mother's eMac to use with Skype.
I found it works without the base unit. I couldn't get this cam to work on my mother's eMac with the USB base unit, but it worked great when I just plugged it into one of the eMac's USB ports without the base, just the camera head and gooseneck.
Here'sva link to that webcam
Do Not know how you can search and find this for purchase.
Good luck!

Jul 13, 2012 8:49 AM in response to kanoeselby a brody,http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1621 tells you which Macs took the original airport card. This card is only capable of WPA1 and WEP Encryption which is horrible, if you are within 150 feet of anyone who might be snooping in. The fastest wireless connection you can get with these Macs is through an ethernet/wireless bridge that has at minimum 802.11g (Airport Extreme) support. Any Apple Airport Extreme Base Station has ethernet LAN ports that can hook up to the computer's ethernet port and act as a means of getting internet access to those machines. USB on the 1 Ghz and slower eMacs was only 15 Mbps and will slow down anything else on the wireless network to that speed. Same as having the original Airport card, you are slowed down to 11 Mbps. Ethernet gives you 100 Mbps on all but the oldest Macs.

Jul 13, 2012 4:33 PM in response to a brodyby MichelPM,Brody,
This is a great solution, but still tethers the OP's eMac to a cable.
I agree he'd be better off this way, though.
The OP really indicated though that the eMac be wireless and cable free, though.
Given the airport card options OP has to use, your solution is the best given the eMacs age and hardware.
Kanoesel,
Skip looking for an The original airport card, it simply going to be tool slow for use on the Internet.
Forget the eMac going wireless and get the Airport Express Base Station and hook your eMac to it via Ethernet cable.
You will get much faster and secure Internet access by this method.

Jul 13, 2012 6:40 PM in response to kanoeselby Jan Hedlund,An "ethernet/wireless bridge" was mentioned by a brody. This is a good idea for older computers, since these bridge devices do not require special drivers, and can thus be used under almost any operating system. Examples include Netgear WNCE2001 and Linksys WET610N.

Jul 15, 2012 10:33 AM in response to MichelPMby kanoesel,Hello Forum,
i got emac #1 and it is not the 700 Mhz Version, it is an 1Ghz emac with OS 10.3.9
So i can build in the airport extreme card. There is no easy way to use the emac via ethernet cable. I want the wirleless connection....its only for checking emails and so on.....
I think it will work with the airport extreme card ?????
Another question. I cant see the CD Drive on the desktop of OS. Only, when i manually open the slot and put a CD into drive, the symbol for CD appears in the desktop of OS. I make at the moment a apple Update for 10.3.9 I hope, that will fix it. Where can i install the CD drive in the Hardewareconfiguration?????
The other emac, i will do with ethernet cable. Is it right, thats it faster then???
Thanks a lot to all of you!!!

Well, that's the way it works on Macs, no Disc = no show.
The empty Drive can be seen in Disk Utility or System Preferences, but no way to show it without a Disc in it.

Jul 15, 2012 3:16 PM in response to BDAquaby kanoesel,Hmmm i m new in Macworld. How can i open the disc drive??? When i want to put a CD inside??? I make it at the moment by opening the front cover with my finger and then press the open button of the drive....and how did the drive close...by pressing the slide of the CD??? or does it that process automatically in a normal case???
Im a absolute Greenhorn
Which version of MAC OS should i put on my emac with 1Ghz ??? At the moment i have 10.3.9 and 125 MB Ram, but i ordered 1 GB Ram. It is a little bit slow.
And Safari is closed down with an error. I have no Java installed. May this be the problem for safari error???

That particular would not work unless you had an old airport extreme router and you created a WDS network. Your better off getting an airport express that has some N capabilities. (The new ones are really nice.)

Don't go hirer than 10.4.11. You will want to upgrade your ram. I could send you my emac and you would not have to do anything to it. http://fortmyers.craigslist.org/chl/sys/3118698690.html (the only thing you would have to pay for is the shipping... and get your own airport express but you can have it free.)
Create a new admin user, then delete the old admin user.
