I got the filters installed properly, but I tried several of the options, and they all increased the file size of the original PDF. No matter which one I tried, it took the original file from 3.5MB to 7.5MB. I'm ready to tear all of my hair out.

I'm thinking that your original PDF is actually lower in qulaity (size/resolution) and this is upping the resolution?
Can you upload the file somehwere and provide the link?

Thanks sooo much!
This is an excellent utility, one which you would think would be a part of preview by now! saved me a heap of time and means i dont need to find my acrobat disk.
Thanks again, Jesse
Here's the download link for people who don't want to go back to page 10-

I had the same issue when putting the "Filters" folder in my User Library. It now works with the "Filters" folder in the global Library.

Now that mobile me is closed is there somewhere else we can get these filters?
Going mad trying to reduce these things!

Let me add my thanks to those of many others. This was a problem that had plagued me for years and had finally come to a head. Your filters solved my problem simply and in a completely integrated form. Thanks so much for sharing them with us.

It works like charm. But since few days your link to the quartz filters is no more active: NO MORE WORKING
Do you have new link instead. I have installed the new Mountain Lion and loosed my SL filters.

Thanks for your kind works.
As you probably know, MobileMe (and iDisks) have stopped working recently.
I published a new Dopbox link, which appears ...just 3 messages aavoe your post :-)
Fell free( and other people feel equally free) todistribute these files in any way you see fit it that can help!
Have a great day,

Hi Jerome, I've tried installing these in Mountain Lion and the filters don't show up. I have them in my personal Library folder.
Is there a new location to put these with Mountain Lion?

I have Mountain Lion and the filters folder installed in the Macintosh HD/Library folder.
They work for me and now appear in the "Export" menu.
Do they work for you when installed in that location?

Firstly thanks for the filters; excellent work! I tried creating my own using Color Sync, but it was always a bit hit and miss.
Anyway, I have had a quick skim through the whole tread and I apologise if this has already been mentioned, but, certainly under Lion - OS X 10.7.5 - (Sorry, my aging MacBook's too old for the mountains! ) the filters should go in:
And I was wondering if, perhaps, this might also hold for Mountain Lion?
You can put them in the local user's version of that folder, ~/Library/PDF Services/ but I remember reading somewhere they won't show up in every program that uses the filters and that has been my experience as well.
