With my iPod connected to my laptop (a Powerbook running Tiger OS X 10.4.11), iTunes (v 9.2.1 (5)) opens and displays the contents of the iPod, including all music files (of course).  Today, after a session listening to the iPod during a work-out, upon connecting the iPod to the computer and sorting the iPod’s music files by “Last Played,” the song files that played today have not had their “Last Played” dates and times updated; the most recently “Last Played,” files listed were for two days ago.  And when I went back to resume listening to a podcast I had been listening to prior to the work-out, it resumed playing at a point well prior to where I had been at just before the work-out.  Is there any way to get the iPod (or iTunes) to now recognizine these files’ actual “Last-Played” times?  (I have tried re-setting the iPod, twice.)

If you tried doing a Reset, you may need to do a Restore.  A Reset just restarts the iPod.  A Restore erases the iPod, reinstalls its software, and set it to default settings.  There may be a some data corruption on the iPod's storage that is preventing the "last played" data from being saved properly.

A Restore is done from the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes (when you select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar under DEVICES).

Thanks.  I am familiar with the Restore option, which I might want to do if the problem recurs.  If it does not continue to happen -- if it was a momentary blip, my question is how to “wake up” the iPod or recover its recognition of those files last-played times.

If it does not continue to happen, isn't your problem solved?

Update: The problem did not recur, so was apparently a momentary blip.

No, in that I use the data by copying/pasting it into a workout log document.  (I did-up a version from rough memory, but would like to know how to recapture any such data that gets blipped-out if the problem ever recurs.)

You track what songs were playded during a workout?  That's pretty detailed...
