A couple of things to try :
Open terminal and type - drutil tray eject
Shut down the Mac. Power it on again holding down the primary mouse button until either the disc ejects or the log on screen appears in OS X.
I just had this problem today. I can't get a disc to go into the slot more than halfway. It seems to hit a wall. There is no disc in the drive. I have tried everything here. What did you end up doing? Did you find a way to fix it.
I had this problem and solved it by doing the following steps:
Shuting down the computer and then disconnect the power cord from the computer
(for a laptop also remove the battery)
With the power cord disconnected I held the power button down for 15 seconds.
I then reconnected the computer power cord and restarted.
Hope that helps.
I had same problem with my MacMini and my external Superdrive.
Here is the problem...point two of 10.8.2
I want to apple store today 10.16.2012 and had them erase the entire HD
and install 10.7 and then came home and restored the HD with my one TB
Problem solved...done...never liked 10.8 and will nover get another update.
apple does not check their updates before they release them
