Jul 17, 2012 9:35 AM in response to K Tby gavth,Yes, and I actually had a similar audio error previously but was able to fix that. This issue seems to be something wrong with the TOC file. I don't know where to look for the error to correct it. Just got a response from Apple Support saying "You received this error because you are using an HTML element in the HTML of the ePUB file that is not allowed." However... I didn't use any HTML in the book. So... completely lost.
Thanks for your fast response and in advance for any ideas/help!

Jul 17, 2012 4:09 PM in response to gavthby MichiHenning,I would forward the .iba and .ibook file to Apple in a bug report. Somehow, IBA generates bad code for your book, which should never happen.
Michi.

Jul 19, 2012 4:26 AM in response to gavthby tk0us,try uploading your book separately from your preview. sometimes the preview version messes things up when combined for a second or third upload. then upload the preview separately

Jul 26, 2012 8:44 AM in response to gavthby clslblu,I'm getting this same error too. I've tried everything I can think of - even editing the metadata of images that I'd pulled back off my wordpress blog (the metadata contained a source, which contained the word "contents"). After editing all the filenames and metadata, I removed every image, slideshow and video from my book and re-added them. That didn't work.
I've even tried loading from a completely clean template and rebuilding the first chapter of my book, adding images and publishing just that chapter but it throws up the same error.
I submitted a support request through iTunes Connect and was told I'd put invalid HTML into the project. I replied to that and said I hadn't added any HTML at all, it was all handled in iBooks Author. I got a reply saying that they were looking into it and to wait for a response. It's been 4 days so far and I've heard nothing else.
If I had to assume (and given the lack of response I do, unfortunately, have to assume) I'd say there's a bug somewhere in iBA and it's somehow putting bad HTML into the ToC.
I'll report back if there's any further response to my support request.

Jul 26, 2012 8:58 AM in response to clslbluby gavth,Similar issues looks like. Are you using a template other than those in iBooks Author? That's what I did, and that was definitely part of the issue.
After digging through .ibooks code for hours and still not seeing the problem, I decided to reach out to one of the Apple epub conversion affiliates in iTunes Connect. They said they could repair the file without a problem, started working on it, only to come back a week later and say they couldn't work on .ibooks or .iba files yet.
So, in complete frustration, I decided to transfer my content page by page from the blank template I downloaded from a vendor online to one of the "textbook" templates in IBA. This was a long process as I had to unlock and clear out the formatting of the template. But, once that was done and content was transferred over, all was good. I submitted/delivered the same content and preview book within the new template and it went right through the first time (all metadata was exactly the same as well).
Now, the iBookstore approval waiting process begins!
Good luck!

Jul 26, 2012 9:02 AM in response to gavthby clslblu,Yes, I'm using a blank template I downloaded too!
Right, I'll try starting from one of the pre-packaged iBA templates, I'll unlock and strip out their formatting and rebuild page by page.
Thanks for the tip and good luck with your book!

Aug 6, 2012 7:56 AM in response to gavthby Yveta,Since April I've beeen getting the same error messages even though I am only trying to re-upload the same book that's been on iTunes for months now (Apple asked that I change the font size in the Contents menu - that's all I did to the new file, never touched my audio files!!!). After many unsuccessful attemps doing what I always did with all my books that went in successfully before April, I just gave up on the preview sample and uploaded the book file using the "publish" button but did not include the book sample preview in my package. It went fine and uploaded successfully! So, I think iAuthor has a bug that is messing up the package when you attach the book sample (because the sample is generated by "exporting" it, not "publishing it").
I read somewhere in this forum that you could try to "publish" the sample, and then include the package it generates into the real book package's assets. Does anyone know how to do this? When I tried it, I could not drag the sample ITP package into the book sample window....
