As noted download again from the Cloud - Delete the bad files to the trash, then - Go to the main iTS interface window - From the Quick Links options (upper right corner) select Purchased - find your tunes and d/l again.

Needed to re-download entire album because both 1 and 5 are album only. 1/5 Eternity's Sunrise downloaded clean. 5/5 Funeral Canticle errors at 3:10 so I will try again.

Well as noted it should not have happened.
Just to clarify - you purchased from the iTunes Store.
You were logged into your iTunes account when you downloaded form the cloud for the second time.
Select the files one by one from the the iTunes library window - Get Info - for each file - in the summary tab you will see the account name that purchased that file. If it is your account - go to this page and explain to the iTunes Customer Support the problem - http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/

Yes you will charged 2 times if you purchase 2 times. If you go to the Cloud you will not be charged again.
My suggestion pointed you to the Cloud - FREE after purchased.
Hence my advice was not bad.
