We have 2 "fee" books published so far for Genre: Juvenile (Young Adult) (1) Virtues and Values and (2) Mystery/Detective -
(1) - The Right to Choose M. T. Towers
First novel in a series: "The Right to Choose" by M.T.Towers "From the Diary of Nubia Santomás". Search iTunes for the ISBN number in Books: 9780985165208
(2) - The Circus Boy M.T.Towers
Second novel in a series: "The Circus Boy - The Choices We Make" by M.T.Towers "From the Diary of Nubia Santomás" . Search iTunes for the ISBN number in Books: 9780985165215
I have gotten responses for trouble tickets I sent it for formatting issues. It will take 10 days to correct. The 2nd book for example, came up as "The Circus" Instead of "The Circus Boy" and that is being corrected. The cover shows the correct name, however, so not a big deal. The first book subtitle needed uppercase/lowercase fixing and that is being addressed as well. I did the process of the books in verison 1 of iBook Publisher and didn't know there was an update to the program. There is no "update" link in the 'Help' portion of the program either.
As you can see above with the iTunes links, the author name in one case has spaces and the other does not, so that issue also needs to be addressed, so a search on the author name is consistant.
Approval from iTunes Connect was February 13, 2012.
The first book were submitted February 14 adn 15, 2012 and successfully posted at least by March 7, 2012. Notification of successful posting by Apple would have been nice, but that didn't happen. I had to go find the books by ISBN number to locate them and "discover" they had been published.
The books are plain text with only the cover for graphics. No multimedia, no widgets, no bells or whistles.
A third book in the series is planned for April 2012 release after it goes through the editing process. I've toyed with the idea of skipping a step and just creating the text within iBook Author, but have stayed with MS Word and its special Mac quirkiness for now. I tried Pages, but returned to MS Word 2011 for the book template I use.
I'd like to know if I have to submit a separate "Preview" verson for Chapter 1 or if Apple does that automatically for each book submitted. At the moment I do not have access to an iPad to test that yet. I have the .iba files ready for both books for Chapter 1, if I have to reload a "Preview" version.

Answer: We have to provide our own Preview for each book.
The issues I had were finally resolved in June 2012 only after I resubmitted the whole things and Apple went in and recategorzied the books for General Reading so they could be "discovered".
The 3rd Book is about to be submitted for publication. The Prologue for it will be the "Preview" this time.

My book is "Carpe Audience."
I'm in the US and my experience was remarkably quick. I posted the book on Friday at about 11:30 Mountain Time, got a revise ticket that afternoon, fixed and republished. Checked Ticket Status for any other issues. eBook is online by 10:00ish on Monday.
A couple of caveats... The book is heavily formated in iBook Author, with a ton of interactive media. About 60 hours of production time and heavy QA prior to submission, from a press ready Pages document. Pretty good with Apple's iWork suite so iBook Author has a familiar face. Even then, failed first submission. (Two issues: 1. Used the word iBook on the copyright page to indicate that iBook Author was used to create this iBook. [Fail, see trademark usage.] 2. "The PowerPoint 2010BC interactive media is incorrectly placed on the Clint Eastwood quote in portrait view." [Portrait view has some trickiness with sidebar stuff.])
Bottom line: I am really impressed on how quickly the book went live. (Search "Carpe Audience"). This specific book carries graphic requirements that a typical epub just can't support. (Kack!) And iBook Author and the bookstore allow for the retention of graphic design in an interactive ebook that wasn't possible before.
