Jul 17, 2012 10:04 PM in response to Sean The Mac Manby Jan Hedlund,A flashing question-mark means that a valid system folder cannot be located by the PowerBook. See the article below to begin with.

Do you have a Disk Tools disk (or another startup floppy) for the computer in question?
If necessary, a manual can be downloaded from Apple.

Jul 18, 2012 9:57 AM in response to Jan Hedlundby Sean The Mac Man,No I do not have another floppy but I might buy an OS 7.0.1 on Ebay Install Thing Which Includes 6 Floppies:
- Install 1
- Install 2
- Disk Tools
- Fonts
- Printing
- Tidbits
Would any of those work?

Jul 18, 2012 2:41 PM in response to Sean The Mac Manby Jan Hedlund,No, you would need at least System 7.1 and the System Enabler 131.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TA28948
You could use the Network Access Disk 7.5, which is available for download from Apple, as a startup disk. The normal procedure would be to use the Disk Copy 4.2 utility on another older Mac (with a built-in floppy drive) in order to create a properly sector-copied floppy from the downloaded disk image.
If absolutely necessary, there is a way to create the bootable Mac floppy on a Windows PC. Please post back if of interest.

Jul 18, 2012 3:15 PM in response to Jan Hedlundby Sean The Mac Man,I was reading on this and it said that the Powerbook 165 supports system 7.0.1.
I do not have another older mac nor a windows PC (NEVER would buy one!)
I am going to buy the disks and if they do not work, I will try the other ways! And if they do not work, then I will have some of Apple History for my collection!

The article below describes a method for making a bootable floppy on a Mac OS X computer (I have not tested this). Could possibly be of interest to you.

Perhaps you could borrow an older Mac, or contact an Apple User Group in your area.

NotebooksWow, pretty generation, reminds me of youth times.
? = no valid boot disk
That generation is for exhibitions now, will be difficult enough to find a hard disk compatible with it.
