Q: Can't sync podcasts to 4th Generation Shuffle

Following earlier posts I have read, I created a Playlist (in my list of music Playlists) and dragged several podcasts to it. In iTunes, I select my 4th Gen iPod Shuffle, click Podcasts and select the Playlist containing the podcasts in the Include Episodes from Playlist. Under Devices in iTunes, the Playlist containing the podcasts appears in the list under Music and Books. When I select it, the two podcasts in the Playlist appear. I click on Sync.

 

The Capacity graphic in iTunes shows .44GB of Audio.

 

It appears the podcasts are synced to the Shuffle, but when I turn it on I get an audio message, "Please use iTunes to sync music." Nothing plays.

 

Previously, I had podcasts loaded on this Shuffle. It appears they synced automatically by just selecting Sync Podcasts and choosing Automatically. Now I can't get them on no matter what I do.

 

Will appreciate any help.

    If you want to automatically sync podcasts, isn't there a Podcasts tab (next to the Music tab) where you set that up, in iTunes (when you select the shuffle in the sidebar under DEVICES)?  That's where you should set up how (and what) you want for syncing podcasts.

     

    Also, separate podcasts are handled like playlists on the 4th gen shuffle.  The podcast is equivalent to the playlist.  The podcast's "episodes" are equivalent to songs on a playlist.  To select to listen to a podcast, you use the VoiceOver button (press and hold) to have it read off the list of playlists.  The podcasts are listed after the playlists, and you can select the one your want.  You will then be "in" the podcast, and you can listen to individual episodes.
