I have never used a Beta before - since IMessage is a Beta what do I do when the new OS comes out and the regular imessage will be included? do I uninstall the Beta first?-maybe a dumb question - sorry-

    HI,

The chances are that the Mountian Lion upgrade will upgrade either iChat 6 or Message beta  when you come to install it (Mountian Lion).

There are differences in the way Message beta stores "Saved Transcripts" compared to iChat.

iCHat 6 stores them in a folder called iChats which is normally (default place) in your Documents Folder (you could have placed it elsewhere)

Messages seems to make some use of this is showing our the "History" with that person (iChat saved Chats or new iMessages)

It also seems to use your Home Folder/Library/Messages to save some info to (particularly iMessages).

You have to use the Finder > Go Menu and hold the ALT key to see the Library to gain access to this folder as it is Hidden in Lion.

This would suggest there maybe differences on how and what can be accessed in Messages in Mountain Lion
