iOS devces use AirPrint to print to AirPrint-enabled printers Just connecting a non-AirPrint-enabled printer to the USB port of the AirPort Extreme will NOT make it AirPrint-enabled.

There are only two ways that you will be able to print from the iPhone and/or iPad:
1) The printer must be AirPrint compatible. Check this support document to see if your model is included.
2) If your printer is not AirPrint compatible, you might still be able to print from the iPhone and/or iPad if you install an App like App Store - PrintCentral for iPhone/iPod Touch
Having an AirPort Extreme will not help in either case.
In other words, if your printer is AirPrint compatible, you do not need an AirPort Extreme. And, if it is not AirPrint compatible, connecting it to an AirPort Extreme will not make it AirPrint compatible.
