Jul 23, 2012 2:48 AM in response to Carolyn Samitby mannyrules,Hi Carolyn,
Thanks for the quick reply.
It didn't work. I deleted and reorganized a bunch of bookmarks, turned off sync bookmarks. Restarted, turned sync bookmarks back on, and they all came back and overwrote all of the cleanup I did.
Any ideas?

Jul 23, 2012 3:02 AM in response to mannyrulesby Carolyn Samit,Ok.. might be corrupted Safari preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Click Go
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file to the Desktop. Quit then relaunch Safari.
If that made a difference, move the .plist file to the Trash. If not, move it back to the Preferences folder.

Jul 23, 2012 3:26 AM in response to Carolyn Samitby mannyrules,Nope.
All the bookmarks I deleted came back again. But this time I noticed that the new sub-folders that I created and moved some bookmars to, was there too.
SO, it seems I can't delete bookmarks, it just keeps new ones and keeps merging them forever.
Mobile me used to have an option to choose the direction of the syncing/overwriting. I don't see that option anymore. I wonder if this is a bug that Apple missed in moving to iCloud.
Can you think of any way of deleting my bookmarks from iCloud, so I can start fresh? -- but then, I'd be worried that it would delete all of my bookmarks from all my devices. :-/

Jul 23, 2012 3:39 AM in response to mannyrulesby Carolyn Samit,What other devices?
If you are referring to an iPad, iPod touch, or an iPhone, tap Settings > iCloud
Turn Bookmarks off then back on again then restart the device.
Do the same on your Mac one more time. System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect Bookmarks then reselect.

Jul 23, 2012 4:07 AM in response to mannyrulesby Carolyn Samit,I just found a support article that may offer something you haven't tried as yet > iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Bookmarks
But this time I noticed that the new sub-folders that I created and moved some bookmars to, was there too.
Sub folders may be the glitch for syncing between your Mac and iOS based devices.

Jul 23, 2012 4:10 AM in response to Carolyn Samitby mannyrules,Thanks for the link and your speedy responses!
I think maybe I'm not waiting long enough after unchecking the box to check it again.
I'm going to leave them both off for a while, reorganize my bookmarks, copy them to my desktop, and try again later.
I'll let you know what happens
Thanks again!
