Q: restrictions are on and i don't know the passcode

Some how my restrictions are on and i didn't turn them on and no one messes w/ my phone and I don't know the passcode and I've attempted twice to figure it out but am afraid to get locked out of my phone so how do i turn it off if I don't have the passcode?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1

    To remove a restrictions passcode you have to restore your phone as new, not using your backup.  You might want to see if someone set this on your phone without telling you as you have to enter the same passcode twice in order to set it (i.e., it can't be set by accident).

    If my son set his iPod for restrictions, and we have ours synched together, would it have changed my phone to be on as well?

    I don't think this could happen by syncing, but it might if you restored to the backup of his iPod.  You could always try entering his restrictions passcode on your phone to see if it works.

    I asked him, he thinks that it has something to do w/ iCloud.  I have already had two failed attempts thinking there some sort of default like 0000 or 9999 and I don't know how many times it gives you before it locks you out of your phone.  (if that's what happens)

    Failed passcode attempts does lock you out but I'm not sure about restrictions passcodes, or how many failed attempts would trigger it.  I also don't see how iCloud could set a restrictions passcode on your phone, unless you restore from his iCloud backup.  Unless someone else here knows you may want to go see someone at the genius bar at a nearby Apple store to get more definitive answers.  (Be sure to make an appointment first.)

    Lord, that's like 45 minutes away and I called Apple earlier this evening and the guy was all like I'll send you a link to give you some options to fix it.  Ya, the link was their website which I had already looked through a few times.  I have no idea if I would have backed up to his at any given time.  We have like 5 devices and only 3 are named correctly.  So frustrating.
