Same thing is happening with me. Most of my accounts work but one just won't accept the password and goes offline.
I've tried restarting Mail as well as the whole computer but nothing works so far.

@ of my email aliases have disappeared. >:( They are still valid addresses (I've been able to send to them with out a problem) but I can't get the mail sent to them. VERY frustrating!

I've found a solution to my problem. This worked for me.This solved my questionRe: Problem with unchecking secure sockets layer checkbox in outgoing SMTP server Apple Mail / Mountain Lion
I was able to uncheck "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)". I clicked on "use custom port", entered 587 there and could uncheck "Use SSL"

I've recently installed ML and can't seem to use my @me email properly.
There are no emails in the @me inbox and there is an exclamation mark next to the box.
Hotmail seems to be working ok although last night I couldn't send from it as it just seemed to freeze whilst sending.
I've restarted everything, tried re inputting passwords and also messed with the ports (ehatever that means) and still no emails in the @me box.

Had similar problem with Mountain Lion mail after recent upgrade. iPhone and web mail access to iCloud worked but mail on my Macbook Pro could neither send nor receive. It kept asking for my password, which I correctly entered, but could not log into mail server and outgoing mail was showing offline. Tried restarting mail, computer, reinstalling Mountain Lion without success. Finally found the solution, and PRESTO everything worked.
Solution: Go to iCloud preferences in system preferences. Log out of iCloud. Carefully ignore all the dire warnings. Log back into iCloud.
Hope this helps.
