Jul 26, 2012 5:23 PM in response to jlidroboby David A. Gatwood,Take it *immediately* to an Apple Store. Do not turn it on again until you do. That sounds like what happened to me the last time I had an electrical short inside a laptop.

Aug 2, 2012 7:35 AM in response to jlidroboby mochachocolata,Any news on this? The same thing happened to my HT5394 Macbook yesterday. I'm taking it to Genius today.
Did they give you a diagnosis? Do they have to give you a replacement laptop??? Thank you!

Aug 2, 2012 7:52 AM in response to mochachocolataby jlidrobo,Yes, the diagnosis was: the mainboard burned. They don't give me a replacement, I have to wait for 8 days, if I'm lucky, until the replacement mainboard arrives (I'm Latinamerican buyer). I'm so mad because my MBA was under 15 days of purchase.
I guess that SMC updates did something that burned my MBA.
I'll inform when my MBA arrives, I hope that will be some day on the next week.
