- Touch and hold any app icon on the Home screen until the icons start to wiggle.
- Tap the "x" in the corner of the app you want to remove.
- Press Home button to stop wiggle.

I'm having the same problem. My apps wiggle,but the black x doesn't show up to delete. And now when I try to load more apps it says I don't have enough memory...so that's why i'm trying to remove less used apps. But I have a 16 gig iPad and only 39 apps...is this normal??
