Jul 27, 2012 12:47 PM in response to GuyMarshallby Jon Walker,I have purchased QuickTime 7 Pro for Windows. I can't find it in Programs, and not sure if it's activated.
Can it work with MPEG 4's, and, can I burn to a blank DVD when my movie is finished?
1) QT 7 Pro is not a separate application. Purchasing a "Pro" key merely allows you to "key" the regular QT 7 Player app for "Pro" use. (I.e., activates features the unkeyed player app cannot access such as exportting/recompressing files, masking content, compositing content, etc.) See the Edit/Register window option to key the app.
2) QT 7 Player/Pro Player is natively compliant with MPEG-4 (Part 2) and MPEG-4/AVC (Part 10) ISO/ICE standards. Non-compliant content may require third-party codecs be installed if available for proper support.
3) No, QT is a multimedia player app—not a DVD burning app. (On a Mac, the ability to burn data DVDs is built into the operating system and can be accessed by simply inserting a blank optical media disc, naming it, dropping the files you want burned to the Finder window, and pressing the "Burn" button. On the othe hand, authoring and burning DVDs which will be compatible with commercial hardware DVD players/software DVD media players requires addition dedicated software like iDVD which comes with any new Mac system or a third-party app like Toast.) Not sure how this may work on a Windows platform.
Additional Note: If you plan to create data DVDs with QT movie content playable in the QT 7 media player directly from a CD/DVD optical disc, you should export the movie data to an H.264/AAC multi-pass/data rate limited compression format with the "Optimized for..." option set to the "CD/DVD" popo-up setting. I would normally use 4X or 8X compatible settings unless you know your recipiemt's player is compatible with higher playback speeds.
