Very same issue here. Early 2008 Mac Pro, 2 graphic cards: ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT and NVIDIA GeForce GT 120.

It happened several times to me today, once when dragging an image from a browser to the desktop, 3 or 4 times when changes spaces using the control-key or by trackpad gesture. And most recently it happened when waking the monitors from sleep mode.

The console logs all seem to indicate crashes in one graphics driver or another.

Here is one example of a log after a crash:

Only thing I see here is MagicMenu. Can you do without it? It is not yet listed as compatible (It is not in Lion).

Uninstal it and see what happens

Umm...Don't know what MagicMenu is. Never heard of it. Don't believe I've ever added anything like that.

In Lion (or maybe before you have installed it. Maybe there are still remnants in this installation: read your earlier post, last section commencing with "thread 0 crashed" line (7). Search for anything (with Easyfind or FindAnyFile) for MagicMenu...

Having the same issue on Late 2009 iMac 27. May e related to Messages app. When I login after a period of sleep I get the notification sound that Messages is online, I hear the same sound just before I get the login screen appearing.

Add me to the same list.

    Early 2009 Mac Pro

    Dual video cards

    2x2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

I tried the safe mode start and looked for incompatible login items. None were designated as such.

The Apple remedy does nothing. I have no Log-In items running, and the computer will randomly do it at various times. It's usually due to me doing something - dragging a file, clicking a link, Time Machine starting up.

My system goes to perform a task, and poof - logged out. Completely random, rarely the same thing twice.

So, it could be either a GPU or CPU issue, because when the action is taken, and it hits a processor, the OS has a panic attack of sorts and just logs you out.

Apple - you guys gotta fix this. Out of all the issues I've read about regarding Mountain Lion, this one is by far the most destructive.

Interesting. Well, that's what I'm going to try tomorrow: zero migration and vanilla Mountain Lion.

    And just see what happens.

I'm having the same issues too on a 2009 MacPro 4,1

I keep seeing vage flashing things on my left-hand screen that I've not seen before either. Doesn't last long enough to see what it is, but I see something pop onto the screen and then disappear.

Not a pleasant upgrade so far on this particular machine.

    I have Found the Solution.

The problem is with Rowmote Helper.

I believe it interferes with the gate keeper security function of mountain lion.

What you should do is go to System preferences---> user and groups--->login items and remove ROWMOTE HELPER from there.

restart the mac and the problem should be fixed!

I bit the bullet, did a CLEAN install, did NOT backup from my Time Machine, and while it took a few hours, the problem happened in the middle of me sliding through SPACES.

So, again, I think it's about a call to the GPU or CPU that's causing this.

And here's another unusual aspect to it...

My Mac Pro has been doing this return to Logon all day ... however the last time the system just completely froze and I had to power cycle it.

After rebooting, somehow, my monitors are switched. What should be on my left monitor is now on my right one and vice versa. How the heck did this happen?
