Garageband files from my Mac wont copy to my iPad. It says "syncing" but when you open GarageBand it says "No files are available to copy."

Only the sample that came with the iPad works. I can copy it to my Mac and then back to my iPad.

You can transfer from the iPad app to iTunes but I don't think you can do it the other way. At least not yet, maybe in an update, but only apple would know and this a user forum.

You have to add them in iTunes to GarageBand when your iPad is connected to iTunes.

Click on your iPad below "DEVICES" when in iTunes, then click on the Apps tab in the menu bar (not the one in the left column), scroll down to GarageBand, click on GarageBand and add your songs to GarageBand Documents.

Then sync or copy from iTunes within GarageBand on your iPad.

With your iPad connected to iTunes, try "Copy from iTunes" when you're in "My Songs" on your iPad in GarageBand.

Make sure that there is in fact something to copy.

The GB Project on iMac GB syncing to iPad 2 still does not work for me. I'm currently running the following versions/builds iMac GB Version 6.0.2 (427.72) and iPad 2 GB Version 1.0.1 (111.73).

I created a support case (227604827) with Apple with no resolution. Could it be that some content of the .band file is incompatible?

Any progress with the above? It's now September and I have this problem as well.

Well, I re-create my project on my iPad in that following way: 1) transfer track by track of my project to iTunes as a independent song; 2) converting each one to a ".WAV" file; 3) With iPad connected to iTunes, drag these ".WAV" files to the GB directory on iTunes (iTunes > "my iPad" > Apps > In the botom of screen "File Sharing" I selected GarageBand); 4) Create a "new song" on your iPad (selecting as instrument "Audio Record" with any record!); 5) On this new track in the iPad, choose "Import" and select the ".WAV" files.

If your prject has a lot of tracks, I don't think that's a good option, of course, but maybe helps you to find a way!

This tutorial helped me to find my way (projects with few tracks).

    Good luck, buddy!

I have the latest version of all GB on iPhone4, iPad5, and iMac (w/lion).  I have the same problem.  I can't get any .band files to show up on either iOS5 device, even though it says "copying files blah blah *.band" in the syncing progress bar.

Hopefully this can help.. With my iPad 2 connected via USB to my PC, I go into the device, then into the apps section and then into the GarageBand file sharing section. Simply add the files that you want to use in GB and sync. (It appears that everyone has gotten to this point)

Now.. Inside GB on the iPad, create a new track or edit an existing track. Toggle the view to show the tracks. Once in this viewing mode you will see that the Loop Browser Button turns blue and shows new tracks -- if you recently added the tracks. (It's the first button at the top right of the app near the settings). Go there and you will see Apple Loops and Audio Files options. You should be able to go into audio files and see a list of the music that you added in iTunes.

All you need to do now is drag and drop from the list of your audio files to create a new track. Once you add it, it is treated like a voice recording.

It was very frustrating trying to get to this point. If you're already there, sorry for wasting your time. If you weren't there then I hope this helps you out.

Another thing to note is that in that window it explains that GB will allow you to import AIFF, WAV, CAF, Apple Loops, AAC and MP3 audio files. I have only used AAC and MP3, but I would "assume" the others work just as well.

Certainly wish was just a seamless process that worked as the iTunes/GB interfaces seem to suggest. However, while hardly an ideal solution, there is a workaround that enabled me to open my desktop GB files on my iPad:
