Q: Is it possible for me to update my Ibook 800Mhz PowerPC G3 Memory 256 SDRAM MAC OS X Version 10.4.11 to MAC OS X 10.4.2???

Please help me out with this...

Is it possible for me to update my Ibook 800Mhz PowerPC G3 Memory 256 SDRAM MAC OS X Version 10.4.11 to MAC OS X 10.4.2???

I tried to download and update my OS to 10.4.2 but from the "select destination" part... It says that my hard disk does not meet the requirements for the update....

The main problem is that We are using a WPA2 secured system in our router and I am having a major problem connecting into that network.. THe WPA personal, WPA enterprise, WPA2 personal and WPA2 enterprise, i tried pushing it into that kind of settings however its just giving me an error "the wireless network (name of the network) does not support the requested encryption method".

Can you help me out with this?? please.... thanks! hope for your reply ASAP.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.

Mac OS X 10.4.11 (read that, "10-dot-4-eleven") is better than Mac OS X 10.4.2. Going from 10.4.11 to 10.4.2 would be a downgrade.

The iBook's original AirPort Card (using the 802.11b standard) is incompatible with WPA2, but should work with WPA personal.

My Airport Card Info. is

Wireless Card Firmware Version: 9.52

can you teach me how to connect in a WPA personal security?? Please??
Because our router only has WPA and WPA2 and neither of the settings, after i put in the password, would connect to the internet... It would only gives me an error message "the wireless network (name of the network) does not support the requested encryption method".

I am also trying to connect this Ibook into the personal hotspot feature of Iphone 4s but it is still not recoginizing the security settings. It will give me the same error....

So what is the next upgrade for OS X 10.4.11??

And also i tried connecting my iphone 4s to the ibook but nothing happened..... :( such a frustation.... Grrrrr

There is no upgrade past Mac OS X 10.4.11 for an iBook G3. 10.4.11 is as high as you can go with an iBook G3.

The next version of the OS is Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard).

As you can see, it requires a Mac with a G4 processor and a minimum processor speed of 867 MHz and a minimum of 512 MB of RAM.

The iPhone 4S requires Mac OS X 10.5.8:

It won't work with the iBook G3 800 MHz, which is about 9 years old (or perhaps even older).
