Hi,

I've just completed my first session in Logic 9.1.7 on a Mac Pro Quad Xeon 2.6 after upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8.  I got through it, but experienced the following new bug (as compared to running in Lion 10.7.4:

I noticed that if Logic is currently playing when I double click on a plugin in the channel strip, and then try to stop the playback (keyboard or by clicking the transport in the arrange window), I will get from a 5-45 second lag before the app responds and actually stops.  No mouse or keyboard commands seem to work while it's hanging up.

Workaround: Only open plugin windows when playback is stopped, and then playing and stopping works fine (although maybe a little more laggy than in the former OS still).

Is anyone else experiencing this or have any better workaround ideas?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7), Quad 2.66GHz, 16GB, 18TB HD / RAID

    Thanks for the info, Mark.

Was this with third party plugins or stock Logic plugs?

I've the same problem. When I start a session under 10.8 (or 10.7 to tell true) and if I load a plugin with some graphical animation (like logic channel eq with metering activated), after short time they are big lag (near 20sec between the action and the reaction).

    I'm on a macbook pro I7.

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm working on a retina MacBook Pro and just upgraded to Mountain Lion. It was working perfectly until I upgraded. I'm hoping this will be resolved shortly because it's nearly impossible to fine tune plugin parameters without realtime feedback.

    Call Apple!!!

It's not enough to post here, the more people that call the sooner this will get taken care of, I swear, Mac users are the only ones that put up with this kind of treament and end up waiting 6-8 months for a fix, (if you're lucky).

These are ProApps right? It's no wonder studios are going back to ProTools & Nuendo.

Same problem here... Loads of lag when Logic is playing and I open up a plugin window...
I'll wait for a solution for about a month and if nothing happens, I'll move to Ableton Live...

Same here... GUI Lag playing, stopping, editing automation, parameter changing. 5-30 seconds when any animation plugin open. Is the same for me in Lion. Reverting to Snow Leopard until this is fixed. Submitted report to Apple Feedback. Mac Pro 2.8 (8 Core 2008)

Same problem here too!  I am running Logic Pro 9.1.7 and Mountain Lion on a MacBook pro (15-inch, 2.53GHz, Core 2 Duo) and when I open a plugin (e.g. the stock Logic EQ plugin) while my track is playing I get massive lag.  I'll click to edit the EQ and it won't respond for around 30 seconds and then tries to catch up with the clicks that I made.  If I stop the track by hitting stop on my control interface, the plug-in then responds as normal.  This is a serious issue!

Same issue here, but it was happening in Lion as well.....I thought upgrading to ML might have solved the issue.

As said earlier...it tends to happen when there is a graphic in the plugin, such as the analyser in the EQ...

Thank you guys..I don´t think I´ll upgrade to ML right now. It will probably take Avid 3-6 month to "approve" ML anyway. I´ll hold my horses....But with Lion I really don´t experience this problem. Did a test in a rather demanding arrangement. During playback I opened Logic´s EQ and Waves H-EQ, with analyzer on, start-stop-start stop etc.

Works like a charm! So what is going on?...It´s like: When I open any bigger arrangement, two thirds through the song I will always get the system overload. I mean always! However from that point I don´t get system oveloads anymore.

    Hmmm! Math or Magic?

I'm having the same problems too. I decided to do a clean installation of ML. Didn't help much. The UI lag is a bit lesser, but still happens. It's a bit irritating especially when you've something playing wrongly and you can't stop it.. almost contemplating going back to 10.6

I was seeing the same problem... I'm a new Logic user, switching from DP, and so it was a minty fresh install of Logic Pro 9.1.7 under ML.

It turned out to be a third party graphics driver that was screwing up some internal process:  specifically, the dirver for AirDisplay, an iOS app that lets you use an iPad as a portable monitor.  When I removed the driver, the problem cleared up instantly, and I have done 9 hour sessions in Logic since then without a single hiccup.

If you're running a third party driver, remove it, repair permissions and see if the problem clears up.
