I have had a .mac account for 6 years.  Never a problem receiving emails to my non-mac mobile device.  Yesterday afternoon my T-Mobile G2 phone stopped receiving emails.  I can get access the Internet and get email from my Gmail account from the G2 but no longer access my Mac account.  If I go to my Apple devices I can access my email from my iCloud account.

I rebooted the G2 several times and spoke with tech support.  We deleted the email account and tried to re-install.  I continue to get the same error message that “Setup could not finish.  Cannot connect to server. (Expected string, none found)”.  Anyone else have a problem like this?  Any suggestions for a fix?

I have exactly the same problem with an Android phone and Sprint Epic 4G. Exactly the same message, except I stopped getting my emails yesterday morning. Found your post while I was looking for a solution.

Please let me know what you learn. I have done the "power off" for my Epic 4G and removed the battery before restarting as well. My iPod touch and my computer are all getting my mac.com email just fine.

Thanks. I don't think Sprint phones have sim cards. I guess I'll go to the Sprint store.

Oddly enough, my email started working this afternoon on the phone. Now I'm getting the "Unable to connect to server" message again.

Yes, it is working right now. 2 hours ago it was Unable to Connect.

Any solution other than just waiting and hoping it works?
