After replacing battery, " charging not supported with this accessory" appears with wallpaper charger and iTunes USB hookup as well. Solutions?

iPhone 3GS, iOS 5.1, water damage

Who replaced the battery? If you had it done at the Apple Store, take it back to them.

If you did it yourself... it sounds like you broke it.

If you had a 3rd party shop do it... it sounds like they broke it. Take it back to them.

Phone worked flawlessly after replacement. Only when I went to charge it, the default showed up.

This must be a definition of "Phone worked flawlessly after replacement" with which I am not familiar.

That's kind of like saying you replaced the brake pads on your car yourself and they worked perfectly until you stepped on the brakes...

What kind of advice do you expect?  You opened up the phone yourself and borked something up when you replaced the battery...

There are no magic words we can say that will fix it. There is no software trick that will fix it.

The iPhone is not considered user servicable. Sure, plenty of people replace their batteries themselves... unfortunately, it didn't work out for you.

@Murph8up, I'm sure you've resolved this by now, one way or another.

I had the same thing happen to me last night when I replaced the battery on my 3GS.

    It's a bad battery.

I know this because when I first got the message, I opened my phone back up and reseated all the connections, thinking that something might not be sitting quite right.  When I got the message again, I took out the new battery and put the old one back in, and it charges just like it used to. I might only get about 5 hours of use before the phone dies at about 53% on the old charge-o-meter, but at least I have a device I can use while I wait for the replacement battery to arrive.

On the plus side, my time for replacing the battery went from 15 minutes to about 4 minutes...
