Q: What has happened to snooze in mountain lion?

I know this might look trivial, but my life runs on alerts and reminders. In OS X 10.6 (Leopard) alerts would popup with an option to set the snooze for differnt time periods. This was very useful as I could dismiss certain reminders for hours, days or weeks. Mountain Lion seems to have lost this very functionality.

I've looked in settings, but can see no way to add this functionality back in. If it is possible can someone advise how to do it. If it's not possible, can Apple please look at adding it back in. All the snoose button needs is a little drop down with snooze delay options.

Thanks

Just to add that the current ML snooze is set for a few minutes, so it becomes very painful/unworkable if you're wanting to delay the alert for hours, days, weeks.

Snooze on Mountain Lion is 15 minutes.  No more, no less.

This is less functionality than in previous iCal releases, no doubt.  But for now, it's the state of things.

Where are the settings for different snooze times?  This was a very useful feature in past OS versions.  Was this an over sight?

One wonders whether the designers of Apple work with their computers!

No more snooze for reminder in Mountain Lion, it's shame.

I was thinking exactly the same thing before I arrived here at this thread!

I can't see any reason why they removed the ability to set different snooze time.

By far my major disappointing with ML.

I call it re tar ded, no more, no less.

After 17 snooze warnings for a reminder for tomorrow I finally click it away. Now I will probably forget my appointment tomorrow. It's completely re tard ed.

10.8.2 & 4 months after Mountain Lion release and STILL NO SNOOZE FIX!

Whatever cool new features Mountain Lion introduced have been overshadowed by this one feature change. Like many others, I have relied on OS X and iOS alerts and the ability to set snooze times. Now, my workflow is interuppted every 15 minutes until I finally just give in and close the alert. This, of course, leads to the likelyhood of me missing a business meeting, a conference call, a bill payment, etc.

I've provided feedback regarding this issue a few times now via the Mac OS X form, but still haven't heard anything from Apple. PLEASE give some sort of indication when/if the ability to set snooze times will return to OS X!

If you haven't already, please take the time to give your feedback:

I am extremely frustrated by this same problem also.  Can I reinstall the old iCal on MtLion?  How would I go about that?

No... you cannot reinstall old iCal to fix the snooze problem.

Seriously?  When we switched from Entourage to iCal, we lost the custom option on reminder snoozes, but we got used to the options apple offered, even if they were too limited.  But now I have to snooze my reminders over and over and over and over again every 15 minutes?  Are you serious?  Amd from the replies in this forum Apple hasn't done anything about this for 6 months?

No there are no jokes here. This is just broken software.

One way to work around this stupid change would be to set a double reminder. Let's say I have the yearly service for my car scheduled 4 weeks from now. I could then add one reminder for the day before so I remember that tomorrow is the day. And I could add one reminder that reminds me the morning after to drive to the garage (to avoid remembering it on the high way to work).

So far so good. Now I have a double reminder.

When the first reminder pops up 4 weeks has gone with an infinite number of other reminders and iCal events in between. I have no idea at this point if I added a second reminder for the morning after. My memory is not that good unfortunately.

So at this point I have three choices.

    A) Hit snooze until I break down in a psychosis

    B) Click the Go away button hoping I will be reminded the next morning.

    C) Double click the **** notice and make sure in iCal.

None of this is of any Apple standard at all. It's rubbish.

If they decided that we should use multiple reminders they must of course show this information on the notice that pops up. Like this:

    Take the car to service

(Next reminder will be at 8 AM)

But they didn't include this either.

    Rubbish.

This is a HUGE issue for me! I now have NO control over how long I can snooze a calendar event?!?!

This has major implications on my daily workflow. Crap, it's always the little things that get you. If I can't find a suitable work around, this may ruin Mountain Lion for me completely!

*** Apple!!! This is unacceptable!!! I guess it's back to Lion for me... This just plain *****.
