Hi

When attempting to stream audio from Mountain Lion (late 2011 MBA) to my AppleTV2 I experience very stuttering/jittering audio. I can hear sounds playing via the AppleTV but its literally like 0.5s of audio then 2s of nothing, repeatedly.

I should note this is not a video mirroring issue (which seems to work fine), I'm just trying to stream audio only (by selecting the AppleTV as the main sound output device in system prefs). Any audio has the same issue, whether from Spotify, a YouTube video playing in Chrome, whatever. Restarting the AppleTV or rebooting my MBA has no effect.

Anyone else experience the same thing?

Thanks

Apple TV will connect to the fastest WiFi it can, so you should make sure your wireless router is transmitting "N" (5Ghz) preferably. Older routers may not support "N", you may not even see the option. There is no indicator on the Apple TV screen as to what kind of WiFi it is using, so you have to get into your router's configuration to see anything. Also walls made of stone or even plaster can degrade your wireless connection, the whole WiFi thing is very messy technology.

I have the same problem as well.

I bought an ATV3 yesterday to take advantage of of the Airplay in Mountain Lion.  My ATV 3 hardwired to the network while my early 2011 macbook pro 13 was on wireless-N.

I would hear the audio pop/stutter.  Later on, the audio would cut out completely.

I heard that there was a bug in Mountain Lion which said that when Airplay is enabled, the wi-fi resource is gobbled up.

My mid 2010 17" MBP doesn't have video mirroring but I can airplay audio.  When using airplay, the sound would be delayed about 2 seconds however, I didn't hear any stutter.  The two second delay is really annoying on this machine.

Airplay from an iPhone is much smoother although the sound quality from the iPhone isn't as good (sounds like lower quality sample).

I hope Apple comes out with a bug fix soon or else my ATV 3 is going back to the store.

Same thing. MacBook Pro hard wired to APExtreme, 5Ghz to Apple TV2 14 Ft away.  Stutters intermittantly with Spotify.

This is probably the same problem and many people are seeing w/ the Cisco/Linksys E series routers.  There is a work-around but kind defeat the purpose of getting these routers in the first place.

Hmm so I shouldn't get an Apple AirPort neither, having the worst Airplay experience from my MacBook Retina, while it works pretty well from my phone. Seems to me more like a software problem.
