10.7 Lion / Administrator Password
10.6 Snow Leopard/ 10.7 Lion / 10.8 Mountain Lion
Is it work on OS X 10.8?
If I haven't boot disk or recovery?
1. Turn on macbook and hold Command and S
2. Type: mount -uw /
3. Type: launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.opendirectoryd.plist
4. Type: ls /Users
See users list and choose yuor user
5. Type: dscl . passwd /Users/username password
username is your user username, password is your new password Can I use "emphty" password (no password)?
If you come out notice "not finding a file / directory" - just ignore it.
6. Type: reboot
I do not know what to do with the MacBook my wife, but she can not log in into the system.
I should expect anything. Even that is unimaginable.
So prepare for the resolution of problems in advance.
In the worst case I'm just going to create a new user
mount -uw /
rm /var/db/ .AppleSetupDone
shutdown -h now
But I have to repeat all the steps to register
1. I use MAC from 14 july. It is my first MAC.
Windose 8 is a horrible monster. I'm not going to use it. I think it's very strange to hear this statement from the windows system administrator Only MAC, Linux, Android. Exception: MS Office for MAC.
2. I will try both metods today in evening.
I will write about the results
Did you try the method suggested in the Macworld article.
This should be read as CNET article.
This is the easiest method.
After resetting the password you have to reset the Keychain.
