I would like to be able to see reminders sorted by their due date. There doesn't seem to be a way to sort them in any particular way. Am I missing something about how to set them up? Thanks for any tips.

Also, it would be great to be able to sort Notes by title instead of only by revision date.

Turns out in Mountain Lion you can DRAG the individual reminders in the list to at least *manually* arrange them by due date, which I guess is better than nothing...

I was looking at the Reminders pane in Lion's iCal and in that OS you could sort them ascending by due date, priority, title, calendar, and manually.

Also in Lion, Notes in Mail could be sorted ascending or descending by date, subject, and several other fields.

In iOS 5.1.1, Notes sorts ascending by rev. date only, and I have no idea how Reminders sorts. It's clearly NOT by title, priority, or due date and there's no option to manually arrange the individual items in the list.

I really hope both Reminders and Notes in Mountain Lion and iOS get some attention by the folks at Apple because, at least the way I use them, they are seriously falling short.

Agree, the user experience is broken -

    - previously I sorted tasks by date for job & private lists in Cal

    - iOS 5x offers "sort by date" across all lists - Mac OS Mountain Lion not

Hope this will be fixed soon.

spot on. the Reminders cannot be sorted by due date which makes it very difficult to see at a glance which item/s is/are due immediately.

wonder how they missed this when they wrote the app??? looks like they were in a hurry.

Please be sure to notify the Mountain Lion developers about the degraded performance of Reminders and Notes so hopefully this will escalate a fix for it.

It took me a bit to figure this out. While in the reminders app, choose View>Go To Today or "command-T". This changes to show reminders by date. Essentially this shows all past due items and those that are due "Today" on today's date. You can easily swipe forward and backward by date showing the items that are due on their respective dates.

However it does not appear you can sort by priority. But just under the Reminder title (in light grey for me) it indicates the list for the item.

Unfortunately, you can not sort by date or priority within a list, only manually.

Thanks cmfitzy, "command-T" (nearly) solved the problem for me!

Ideally I'd prefer a small-real-estate GUI with left pane closed, but as "command-T" has no toggle-mode the pane needs to stay open to go back to full list. Positive side effect: you can also open the calendar and click on single days - this opens the due reminders for that day (only).

    Wishlist:

    - sort lists by date

    - "command-T" as toggle mode plus a "date" button (like iOS)

    - option to show all reminders until (not only on) a date to manage workload

Another option until this is fixed is to display the calendar window.  At least that way, you can see which days have dots on them and then click on the appropriate day to see what is due.

How do you do that?  I can get the catgories to drag for sorting (left pane).  But I cannot get the individual reminders (right pane) to drag.

User1724 - Using my Trackpad, I position the cursor on the reminder i want to move, click on the reminder with my thumb and then keeping my thumb down on the trackpad, use my forefinger to move the reminder up or down where it needs to go.

With a mouse, I left click on the reminder, then holding down the left button move the mouse to position the reminder where it needs to go.

Does that not work for you?

Does not work for me.  I can drag and move the categories in the left pane, but the reminders in the right pane do not move.

OK, now I get it.  You have to drag (grab) it from the checkbox area, not from the text area.

    Thanks Localboy56

But . . . you can resort them on the mac, but the sort order does not change on the iPad.  Change the sequence but the sequence change does not sync through icloud.

I should have guessed that since there does not seem to be a way to change the sequence on the iPad (or iphone).

Check this post, it shows you how you can drag to sort in order yourself, which is tricky. You have to click and drag just right. https://discussions.apple.com/message/19298691#19298691

I definitely don't see a sort option otherwise, as LocalBoy56 said, make sure you "email Mountain Lion developers about the degraded performance of Reminders and Notes so hopefully this will escalate a fix for it."

As long as we're wishing, I'd like to see a way to determine the default calendar for new Reminders in addition to your list. I know not a big thing to go to that calendar and create a new reminder for it, but it would be nice to have a default when creating on a Date window.
