My 2009 macbook pro isn't working.  First, safari started running really slowly.  The pinwheel would pop up for like 5 minutes everytime I clicked on a link.  Now when I turn the computer on it stays stuck on the blue screen.  I did shut it down improperly a few times when the pinwheel was spinning nonstop, I don't know if that affected anything.  I haven't downloaded any new software lately or made any changes that would cause this problem.  I pretty much only use the computer for internet.  Any help is appreaciated!

I'm not sure, and I can't check since my comp won't get past the blue screen.  I believe it's Mac OS X?  It's whatever came standard on them in 2009.  Thanks

my comp won't get past the blue screen.

Safe Boot by restarting your computer while holding down the "shift" key.  Safe booting disables all nonessential processes, often times allowing you to start up when you would otherwise crash.

As of OS X 10.5.6 Safe Boot deletes the dynamic loader shared cache location in the /var/db/dyld directory.  A corrupt cache here can cause the blue screen crash.  Once you restart normally, the cache will be recreated.  This should take care of the issue.

Mac OS X versions (builds) for computers or check the label on the discs that came with your computer.

Alright, I'm able to get to the safe boot startup screen (where it asks for my password).  I enter my password, click log in, the box disappears, and there's nothing on the screen except for the pointer and the standard purple spacey background for several mintues.  The password screen then pops up again.  This repeats over and over again.  What might this mean?  It's obviously the correct password since the box shakes if I enter a wrong one. It's accepting the password but not fully loading up.  Thanks so much for the help.

And I'm pretty sure the version is Mac OS 10.5.7.
