Oh sorry to here that, I also got an LG and now I do have IR, so apple set up a replacement for me and I also thought of ordering another one in mid next week so if the one I get as a eplacement has a LG screen I m thinking of returning that too. So I can have a continus supply of MBPr until I get a flawless samsung one.

I can't believe that Apple actually allows that.  I'm surprised that at some point they don't tell people that they can't return items for a while.  I know that Best Buy does this.  I was always nervous about it when going through the string of new iPads that I went through.  I know that Apple has a 2 week no questions asked replacement policy, but I'd imagine that at some point, they get annoyed at the number of returns.

Of course they have to realize that this isn't fun for the consumer either.  Most people would rather get one that's right, as opposed to having to constantly reorder and return.

I called and told them I just wanted a replacement. They just said all they can do is set up a genius appointment which I said okay to but I'm gonna call them back and tell them about this again. Any ideas on what I should do this time?

    that's ridiculous.

you should be able to get a replacement...

    i personally havent tried yet.

    are you calling 1800myapple

    or 1800aplcare?

p.s. go in hard and ask for their senior advisor after they tell you that you can only set up an appointment at the genius bar. tell him/her that you spent 3.5k on this machine and that you cannot accept this kind of behavior.

Couldn't you just call them and tell them you want to return it, and then go online and order another one?  It seems like people are chaining them together like that.

As with every big company, it depends on who you get.  Apple does have better over the phone customer service than most companies, but it still largely depends on who you get.  When I returned my first MBA, they asked me to send them pictures of the problem before they'd authorize a replacement.  I just told them that I wasn't going to do that and that instead, I wanted to return it, and they folded and issued the replacement.

Well I had to go and talk with geneius as well, but when they saw it what they said was order a new one and return this one once the new one arrives, but then I called apple online store they arranged me a replacement but that order is still processing. But since now delivery time has reduced its not harm for us to order as well.

If you return it and order them online, you lose shipping cost each time.

    unless you choose standard shipping.

Oh yea.  Very good point.  I didn't think of that at all.  So it's an extra 15 bucks per shot.

Man - you guys on this thread are 'freaking me out' thinking I MUST replace this darn thing since it's an LG panel while I still have the 14day no-questions-asked period.

Yeah I kindof feel the same. I have an LG and it's amazing. So beautiful. I don't see anything yet. However, I've been following Jerbz, and he had the same kind of LG panel and loved it as well. But then he found out that it was a crappy panel.

just noticed this tonight. got one of the first ones on the day of announcement.

    it is pretty noticable.

unfortunately the closest Genius Bar is 365 miles away (was over 2000... so i guess that is a bit better.) but still... a Genius Bar appointment will be more than a little bit of a hassle.

being all SSD-style i can't even easily swap drives to a new one. hate to clone the drive then wipe it first.

i just looked up my serial number from an earlier page of this post to determine build time :

    Group1: MacBook

    Group2: Pro

    Generation:

    Machine Model: MacBookPro10,1

    Model introduced: 2012

    Production year: 2012

    Production week: 24  (June)

then ran the command to find out manufacturer origin and got back : LP154WT1-SJA1

    so an LG/Sharp panel.

really hope they can mail me a new one without me having to send this one in first. or having to go to the Genius Bar 6+ hours away.
